Based on my review, you would question why my overall score is 5, BUT this beer is connected to happy memories of the Bahamas. Sipping on a bottle of Kalik Gold on the sand, the rain pouring, the sun shining, ocean waves crashing, and the music blasting. It’s sentimental and I don’t care. I would definitely drink this again even thought it compares to a bud light in America. I enjoy it and you might to.

Absolutely one of my favorite imports. It comes in at Smooth drinking 7%, especially in the blaring sun. It was one of the only beers I got to enjoy with my dad before he passed. I should have rated it 5 across the board just for nostalgia purposes, but I had to judge it fairly. It is just as good as I remember though. Give it a shot it's worth a try.

Hopefully this bottle is not too old & extremely skunked. The pour is dark yellow & well carbonated. I'm not getting much on the aroma, maybe some malt. The taste is quite sweet, somewhat malty, maybe a little bit or corn adjunct in there or corn syrup & I do get some of the 7% alcohol in the taste but it's not too harsh. I recommend that you drink beer cold & not at room temperature. The beer sort of reminds me of Carib lager but it's a little more alcoholic tasting. The good news is this bottle is old & harsh tasting. Moreover, this beer is okay I have had a few other strong euro lager beers that tasted worse than this. Cheers! C

I enjoyed this beer while in the Bahamas. This is high test, the gold taste about the same but has 7 percent alcohol. Very easy to suck these down in the Bahamian sun with a lime and a side order of conch fritters.

You wanna get mangaled on a beach? This is your beer. A high horsepower island style lager that rocks you like a hurricane. Think of it as the anti Modelo

A clear pale amber color with a thin white head that recedes quickly; A moderately tangy beer smell; A mildly tangy mouthfeel; The flavor is nothing special, mild, on the bland side. I wouldn't refuse it if offered, but I won't buy it again.

This is the stronger version of the regular color.. Really not much going on here it's a straight corn beer probably with a little extra sugar added to the Brewing process for the extra kick of alcohol food. Nothing really special although I will say when you're on a small Bahamian island with only 100 people that live there and there's one bar that serves ice cold kalik gold after you've been out Marlin fishing and spear diving all day it's pretty phenomenal

L - Golden with tons of clarity. Pours with a large white, fizzy, foamy head that dissipates quickly and leaves no lacing.
S - Tons of malt, slight notes of hops and spices but nothing else really going on.
T - Tons of sweet malt with spices and slight notes of hops. Maybe even some saltiness. Tastes like a typical adjunct lager with maybe slightly more flavor.
F - light to medium bodied with a high amount of fizzy carbonation.
O - I had this while vacationing in the Bahamas. This is one of the better adjuncts out there but that's not really saying much. The alcohol content is definitely a plus as most in this category are typically lacking. Overall, not too bad but I not something I would choose if I had better options.

Had Kalik Gold while on vacation in the Bahamas, assumed all I would get down there was basic lager type beers so the bar wasn't set too high for the local beer scene. This fit right into that category but thankfully had more body, flavor and ABV that expected. Typical thin, fizzy white head that faded fast and left zero lacing with of course the clear gold color. Aroma was basic malt, vegetables, a dash of caramel and a hint of floral hops. Taste had a tad bit more malt than regular lagers which gave it more robust sweet flavors to make up for the almost non-existent hop qualities. Better than I expected and drinkable enough for a nice poolside brew.

Pours a clear golden yellow with 1 finger lacing that sticks around. Smells heavily of malt. Tastes of bready malt. Mouthfeel is very clean up front and finishes with a mild spicy bite on the back end. Heavy malt after taste.

L: Golden yellow

S: Corn and sweet malt with a touch of skunk

T: Same as smell ... not offensive

F: good enough carbonation

Overall: unimpressive when I factor in the price and can get much better beer for the same cost.

Bought in Flordia, poured into a pint glass. Pours with lots of carbonation, one finger head. Color is of a yellowish gold. Cloudy. Not a very good look, I would say.

Smell of grains... malty and corny.

Taste surprised me to say the least. Thought it would equate to a watery tasting macro, but has a little more flavor and body. Medium body, with sweet corn notes, grassy, high malt.. No hops to note, A slight skunky and small metallic taste left in the mouth.

Overall goes smooth, a unique taste. Would drink again thought a little high on malt.

Poured from a clear 12 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of grains, malts, touch of skunk. Taste is grains, malts, corn, touch of alcohol, very easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall, despite the 7% abv, is a beer that would be great to have several of on a hot day.

12-oz bottle into weizen glass

A - 2 fingers white head over a golden/yellow body, high amount of visible carbonation

S - light grainy/corn smell, slight hint of lemon

T - corn, grass, cooked veggies, touch of caramel, hint of citrus, a bit sour

M - medium body, high carbonation

O - The taste is a little off. All in all not a great brew.

clear pale gold with a thin head.

S: musty and a touch sour pale malts and lemon.

T: semi sweet with pale malts. No hops coming through and no bad aftertaste or bitter notes.

M: standard light to medium body and moderate to high carbonation.

Overall: the ABV is higher than the standard Kalik I guess. No bad tastes from this one though the aroma is too sour.

A - Poured a pale, golden-yellow color with small, white head of bubbly foam. It left little to no lace on the glass.

S - It smelled of grains and some caramel.

T - It tasted of grains and grasses. Some sweet caramel with a mild bitterness.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A light bodied lager with a dry finish.

O - This is an okay lager. I could see it being popular on the beaches of the Bahamas.

Bottle: Poured a bright golden color beer with a large poured white foamy head with medium retention and light lacing. Aroma consists of light adjunct with medium sweet notes. Taste is mostly dominated by mildly sweet adjunct notes with not much else in terms of flavour profile. Body is light with surprisingly good carbonation. Better then expected but we are still talking malt liquor qualities here.

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass

A: Poured a clear straw yellow with about 2 fingers worth of fluffy white head that faded quickly to a small ring with very little lacing.

S: Little skunky with strong hit of corn and grainy sweet malt.

T: Not bad to start with.... Not at all skunky as I was expecting... Little Euro, corny grain and sweet malt with very little hops upfront, but the hops comes end at the end... very light though.

M: Oddly heavy for this style.. Mid body, with a pretty high carbonation to it. Best part of this beer.

D: Not a bad beer at all.... Average, but surprising. I had the normal Kalik and found it quite bad, but this one surprised me maybe the higher ABV helps... All I know if is you see this and the regular Kalik go Gold...

Kalik Gold has a thin, fizzy, slightly off-white head and a clear, deep gold appearance, with a few bubbles and no lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet barley malt and water. Taste is sweet, bold, malty, and it has an underlying hop bite or bitterness. Mouthfeel is generally light, and Kalik Gold finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, and nicely drinkable. Yes, it has the typical malt liquor characteristics, and yes it’s quite good. I say you should try it!

A: Pours a transparent straw color (duh) with a small white cap. Retention is decent.

S: Wheaty, grainy, and nicely malted. Hops are decent, subtle, and slightly earthy and floral.

T: Identical to the nose. Pretty flavorful actually, with lots of alcohol in the flavor. There is an underlying sweetness in this beer as well.

MF/D: Fuller body than the others, very drinkable.

Notes: This went head-to-head with PBR in our blind bracketed macro tasting as the #5 seed (upset the #4 seed- PBR). Proving to taste better than most of the other 9 beers.

12 oz clear bottle with a freshness stamp of 03/10 on the neck of the bottle. Pours a crystal clear medium gold color with a fluffy white foam. Average retention and little to no lacing.

Nose has a tropical fruity aspect from the elevated alcohol content along with some candy sweetness and grains. Does not smell very good, almost like a malt liquor.

Taste is a little bit better, but the sweet grains really are approaching cloying status. Not balanced very well by any semblance of hops. The alcohol helps to dry out the finish. This is quite a bit like many of the stronger Euro Pale Lagers found in the States. I dont think this would be overly enjoyable in hot weather on a beach, not very refreshing or crisp. Thanks to my Aunt for bringing this one back for me during a recent vacation. I think I'd rather have 2 regular Kaliks over this for roughly the same alcohol intake.

Reviewed from my notes. The beer is golden straw in color, with a thin head and lots of carbonation. It looks nearly identical to the regular version of Kalik, if I remember correctly. It has a skunky beer smell. It has a flavor composed of alcohol and corn malts. This isn't a beer you drink for its taste though. It has a light body and some carbonation, but generally feels watery and unimpressive. This beer isn't nearly as drinkable as its non-Gold cousin. The strong alcohol aftertaste gets old fast.

Pours a pale gold with a big white head. Head falls to nothing. No real lace.

Smells like an adjunct lager, grains. Lightly skunked.

Bigger flavor than the regular Kalik. Bit bitter and alcohol is present.

Thin to medium bodied in the mouth. Fuller than expected.

Average warm weather beer. Easy drinking and I like the higher alcohol.

S - Is of sweet corny grainy malt

T - Follows the nose with a grainy malt flavor

M - This beer has a light body with high carbonation to it

D - This really wasn't a bad beer it was better than I expected it to be after having regular Kalik first worth trying at least once while in the Bahamas

I drank a ton of these while in the Bahamas a few weeks ago. I drank them from bottle, plastic cup and small drinking glasses. Extra strenth...huh? Interesting way to spin something.

A: A medium golden yellow color with a mininal white head. A minimal amount of lacing.

S: Grainy, grassy and a bit of herbalness to it from the hops.

T: Malty flavor presides up front with hints of grass, grains, a bit of lemony fruit and a little bit of funk. The nice part about this beer (compared to the regular Kalik) was the nice floral hops kick in the end. Not bad, not bad at all for an island quaffer.

M: Pretty thin, nothing lasting but they are refreshing.

D: High, sit back and drink them all day...even with the 7%.

Overall not a beer I would regularly consume here in the states, but lacking the only other good beer down there (Guinness Export) these did very well in a pinch. I actually found myself seeking out the Gold than settling for the lesser regular Kalik becuase it had the much bigger hop punch.
