A: Golden, perfectly clear, bordering on a nitro head in appearance. 2 finger head, little rising carbonation.
S: Farily sweet malt/hop blend, though hoppier than most German lagers. Soft, refreshing.
T: Very controlled bitterness, perfect amount. Moderately sweet. Coming off the tap, not skunked at all. It really shocked me how well balanced and nice it is.
M: Soft carbonation, almost medium body, slightly astringent.
O: Very impressive for a German beer.

I used to drink this often 10 years ago. Last year I tried it again, and it was horribly skunked. Note that I am skeptical about beer in green bottles. It's hit or miss.

Moving on:

Got reintroduced to this beer. Poured from an 330ml (11.2oz) bottle into a stemmed pokal.

A- Dark golden color, thin white head that dissipates quickly, not much retention on the glass.

S- Sweet malts, floral notes, some hops and skunk.

T- Sweet malts dominate. Some mild hops in there.

M- Very thin and flat.

O- If this is not skunked, which is a big if, it's pretty enjoyable. Nothing spectacular. It's a simple and decent beer that is reasonably priced.

.5L bottle served in a straight sided Pilsner glass

Pale straw color with one finger head that dissipates quickly. Low carbonation.

Slight malty with hints of citrus

Smooth/ diluted with definitive taste that leaves a slightly bitter aftertaste.
O.K. Drinkability. This is a typical mass produced European light lager (Helles). While it isn't the best beer in that category it certainly isn't a bad beer.

12 oz green bottle. label say's 11.2 oz? Since 1383, damn that's old.

A: Pours a bright golden clear yellow. Medium white head with plenty of carbonation. Little retention with a little more lacing.

S: Clean with a slight sweetness and some faint grains.

T/M: Light bodied, crisp and a balance of spicy hops and sweet dry malts. Finishes with a bitter dry hop aftertaste.

D: Good. Pretty much what I was expecting from this brew. Light on the taste, yet there's enough to keep me happy. Worth a try for sure, but not something I would really have again.

Got this because I am living in Jordan and there is not much else to drink. Tastes much better in Germany than it does here...

Pours straw yellow color with a very weak fizzy head. There is a nice looking carbonation coating the side of the glass though.

The smell and taste are both slightly bitter, but not in a pleasant sort of way. Maybe something about the way the hops mix with the grain is not perfect. The flavour is not complex, it is good, but does not quite satisfy. It is easy to drink but you expect more from a Bavarian beer.

The mouth-feel is perhaps a bit light, but I have not had a beer in a long time so I don't really care. The carbonation is nice. The beer is a bit plain, but I don't really have any other options in Jordan. If I were back in Germany or the US I would get something different.

Appearance - Clear yellow color with fluffy 1 finger head that disappeared rather quickly. Some lacing on glass

Smell - skunky

Taste - crisp and nice bite from the noble hops.

Mouthfeel - ok

Drinkability - perhaps the skunkiness was just due to the fact I bought this as a single out of the fridge at the liquor store. It is somewhat nice to drink. This was the first beer I had back when I was 16 years old and haven't had one since 1993 until I went back for a revisit. It actually is not a bad beer and some respectable flavorings. I'm glad I went back for a revisit.

I still remember the common commercials for this when I was growing up. Ironically it seems hard to find now and I guess I was lucky to stumble upon some in an obscure little store. Poured a 3" head which slowly dissipated to nothing. Clear straw yellow. Sweet corn with a slight zing, very much like American styles but with a longer finish. Basically American +1.

Very yellow color with small carbonation. Virtually no head at all, just a thin lace. Normal grassy and herbal hop smell. Taste is just good, not too unique. Light bodied. Herbal hops and a little sweetness toward end. This beer is so ok, worth drinking. Not much wrong with it. Very drinkable.

Light yellow appearance with a small amount of solid head. Smell is grassy with hops. A bit malty.

Taste has a nice balance of malt and sweetness, some spices and has a very good hop taste. Light bodied with medium carbonation. Very crisp and refreshing. Has a lingering malty aftertaste.

Overall this is a lighter tasting beer, but it is easily drinkable with a good balance of tastes. Worth a try, seems like a good summer beer.

Great appearance and head with a not so great smell. At first its bitter and has some bite to it. I have noticed the colder it is the better. Surpassingly, even with the bitter initial taste it is a smooth beer and very drinkable. My friends and I can go through new case in one night.

Had in a tall beer glass
A: light yellow, clear, decent 2.5-finger head that quickly dissipates; very few carb beads
S: stinks; macrobrew machinery stench all over it
T: very simple, non-complex beer; very little hop profile
M: overly watery
D: it's certainly not the worst macrobrew you could get, but why bother?

Pours a very clear light gold with a not so over the top head which does dissipate quite quickly. lacing is not really great..
Taste is pretty ok. nothing too bad about it but nothing really outstanding either. its pretty unoffensive and comes with a lot of grain taste to it. kind of like becks from the can. aftertaste is slightly dry/ bitter but it is nothing bad at all. overall a pretty drinkable beer and its nothing worth complaining of.

From the 11.2 flo. oz. bottle no. L-24901-N. Sampled on November 5, 2010. When is the last time you had a Lowenbrau in the USA? If it has been awhile you might be in for a pleasant surprise. Instead of the tasteless corny beer of the 1980's and 1990's, it is now the original recipe imported from Germany. The pour is a carbonated yellow with about a half-inch of fizzy, longlasting head. For a green bottle the skunkiness is muted in favor of malts, thin yeast, and a slightly hopped background. The taste is tart but clean with barley malts and light hops to wrap around your throat. If you gave up on Lowenbrau years ago it might be worth another shot. Best beer around? Hardly. But drinkable and likeable.

500ml can served in a chalice.

A: Pours a clear golden yellow color forming a medium aired white head. Medium retention and some lacings left

S: Quite simple in the nose: Sweet grains, mainly. Also Lager yeasts and grassy hops in the end. Bready and a bit Metallic.

T: Taste is pretty much like the nose. Very malty and bready. Metallic taste is evident. Light but nice grassy and earthy hoppy end

M: Light body and good carbonation. Mild bitter aftertaste

O: A simple, easy drinking and refreshig German Lager. One of the best Euro Lagers I've ever had

A - Nice bright yellow, extremely clear. Good amount of fine lathery head. Disappears quickly though.

S - Malty aroma. Herbal or grassy hop aroma. Lager-esque

T - Pale malt and spicy hops. Very clean.

M - Light and watery. Same old commercial lager (although a step above most)

D - Drinkable.

Not bad as far as a massed produced lager goes. Not outstanding though.

Beer drank in a pint glass...

Appearance - Poured the beer in the pint glass and found it to be very clear and solid amber colour. Carbonation disappeared pretty quick and was minimal for duration of testing. Solid head slowly dropped off to a thin layer of head

Smell - hops and some grassy, overall smell was pleasant

Taste - not a smooth drinking beer, almost a slight bitter taste. A slow disappearing linger after taste.

Mouthfeel - You know there is a beer in your mouth, leaves mild hope taste

Drinkability - I could drink a few of these beers, however, would not be a preference.

A- A pale gold with excellent clarity. Little head which faded quick.

S- Grassy and bready, subtle hops.

T- Light and simple. Bready malts with a background of hops. Slight lemon taste. Grains have a spot in there too. Nothing impressive, but smooth and done well.

M- A bit watery and harder on the tongue. Fairly carbonated.

D- Good beer, but on the light side. Doesn't pack much punch, but isn't too disappointing.

Crystal clear and yellow with a fizzy, bright white cap that quickly fell. Slightly sour aroma, floral and grassy with a bit of malt. Light bitterness, sweet malts, lingering spicy and grassy notes in the flavour. Clean profile. Light bodied with above average carbonation. Not bad, but sort of uninspired. The aroma rubbed me the wrong way but it wasn't really bad. My suggestion is to grab some Skittles and make yourself some Skittlebrau.

500ml can poured into a pint glass

Appearance - clear pale almost straw yellow, nice medium size fluffy white head that dissipates somewhat quickly. Average carbonation bubbles. Minimal lacing.

Smell - hops, grassy, herbal

Taste & Mouth - dry, slightly bitter, mild hop taste, citrus and herbal botes.

Drink - a nice lighter tasting mildly hoppy beer. Perfect for a hot summer day. I could easily drink a few of these.

A - bubbly clear golden, nice white head the retained well, dissipating to islands and laced well
S - light bready malts and some grassy and metallic hop scents, fairly standard lager smell
T - a little more flavour than the standard canadian lagers, the hops are a little more pronounced with a resiny tinny taste, and a very clean freshness, nice for outdoors
M - thin and carbonated but smooth, dry's out on the finish, fairly average lager in this respect
D - this beer is made for chugging, the tastes are subtle but fair, but the combo of thin, crisp, and refreshing make you forget where the last one went

Golden straw in color with a quick-to-leave white head.

Some grains and a faint grassiness.

A mild hint of grassy hops and some slightly musty grains.

Light and heavily carbonated.

Finishes very crisp and dry, but the mustiness threw me off a bit. Its not offensive though, and not a bad choice for the style.

500ml can poured into pint glass june29 2010

A clear pale straw yellow with a fair amount of bubbles feeding a loose soapy head that has decent retention and leaves a few patches of lace

S some grassy hops and some sweet grains and some bubblegum of all things

T not far from the smell but a little more hops and the bubblegum has gone away

M light in the mouth and the bubbles makes it lighter still, smooth beer and no problems here

D I could drink a few of these without complaints and a warm day would sink them with ease

I wish our big name beers were as easy to swallow as this perhaps I'll keep dreaming

Poured in a pilsener Bayern glass, seems like apple soda, bright golden color, no foam, lots of bubbles. Smell: Sweet grain and herbal hops. Taste: The same, sweet grain and herbal hops, but here the hops dominates most of the time. Mouthfeel: Crisp, sweet bitterness with dry finish, high carbonation and soft body. Drinkability: Easy to drink, have almost all the characteristics of a good beer, except the look.
