500 ml bottle, as Löwenbräu München Dunkel, from Rewe Getränkemarkt, Erding. ABV is 5.5%. Fairly dark brown colour, big to moderate off-white to beige head. Moderate aroma of münchener malts and fresh bread, hints of caramel and fruits/berries. The flavour has some notes of dark malts and caramel, hints of fruit and chocolate, with lightly roasted and moderately hoppy notes in the finish. Nice to drink.

Pours a clear brown with a finger of tan head that quickly disappeared

Smells of roasted malt, some toffee

Tastes of caramel with a faint hop bitterness. A bit of raisin.

Slightly on the watery side, not overly sweet. Overall a nice balance.

Löwenbräu AG "Löwenbräu Dunkel"
,5l brown glass bottle, "Mindestens haltbar bis ende: 06.2018" and sampled on 27.09.2017
4,90€ @ Albrecht Dürer Airport, Nürnberg, DE

Notes: Clear deep mahogany brown beneath a finger thick head of off-white. Average head retention and lacing. Distinctly chocolatey in the nose, like chocolate fudge. That follows in the flavor although the rich, grainy Münchner malt is also clear. There are some herbal hops in the background, but not much. It's sweetish but not sweet. Medium bodied with a soft, moderate carbonation. The finish is mostly dry with some spicy hops showing. Overall really well balanced, and very drinkable. A beautiful example of the Münich dunkle helles style.

On tap on restaurant ratkeller in Munich.
L: gives a clear dark brown color with 2 fingers high top of head and some decent lacings on the side.

S: roasted malts and caramel

T&F: flavour is roasted malts and caramel, it also have a slight sweetness to it that balance the malts quit good. Hops in the finish as it have kind of a bitter aftertaste that last for a good time. The minus is that I think it can feel a little bit to watery in the mouth.

O: all Inn all a fairly good and drinkable dunkel lager. Nothing extremely exiting about it, but drinkable and enjoyable enough.

Served in a pilsener glass at Hotel Zum Bahren, Meersburg with a typical tourist meal of Wienerscnitzel and German potato salad. I believe it was poured from a bottle by staff but may have been on tap...neglected to ask. Typical Dunkel brown with a big tan head. Very nice caramel malt taste with NO inappropriate roasted grain flavor that American brewers often produce. I am a big fan of Ayinger Dunkel but this is quite good. Creamy mouthfeel seemed to be perfect with the German cuisine. Just enough delicate hops to prevent the malt from cloying on the palate. Better than I expected.
