This was quite a good weizen - maybe because it was not like a normal weizen and I do not really like weizens so I enjoyed this one. The yeast flavor is less intensive, it is a bit clearer than your usual wheat beer and it feels lighter. Actually, it might even feel a bit too light and at points, watery. Nevertheless, it is an okay beer, something you would enjoy on a summer night next to your usual Lowenbrau, chug after chug.

July 2003: (500 ml bottle, under its alias Löwen Weisse, ABV 5.2%). Typical hefe cloudy golden colour, large head. Delicious aroma of ripe bananas and spices, typical hefe flavour with cloves and hints of citrus. Short aftertaste. Great in summer, but I'd prefer this one to Löwenbräu Original at any time of the year.

The best offer in my city (price / quality / availability, among German Hefeweizen)

Pours a straw gold with medium head that leaves a few spots of lace. Nose is light yeast esters and so e grain...mild copared to the top hefes...but clean. Taste follows with a clean profile without any real flaws, but flavors are muted a bit like they are going for easy drinking mass appeal instead of flavor or anything original. That's not really a problem...this is a highly crushable hefe and one I'd happily reach for in a hot day when I don't want too much going on. Yes...I'm giving this an extra .25 in the overall score because it only cost 1.10 euro for a .5 liter can. Value does mean something.

Overall, a grea beer. Poured into a glass - cloudy, golden color with a decent-sized head, slow to disappear. Strong citrus flavors mixed with wheat. Crisp and a rich aftertaste, sweet to the taste, but not too much so. I'll get this again.
