Purchased in July 2022 and drunk in August that year.
L: Burnt copper, thin receding head, minimal carbonation.
S: Peaches, orange and marmalade. Sweet malt. Minerals.
T: Spicey, caramel, marmalade, earth, oak. A little bit watery.
F: Medium to high carbonation, goes down smooth. A little thin.
O: Unexpectedly good. I have ignored this beer on the shelves of the local Dan Murphy's for many years before realising it was on one of my wishlists. It has a bad rep and I was not expecting anything beyond a bland, macro ale, but was surprised to find it leaning more toward the traditional English ale end of the spectrum. I'm not sure that it's an IPA, despite what the label says, but it's definitely worth another look in the future.
Cheers!

Can picked up somewhere in Western Australia. Lager? Ale? Hard to tell. Bland, with some weak malt flavor. Not much else to speak of. This seemed to be marketed as a choice for the WA population that didn't want a cereal lager.

From Bottle! Pours clear deep amber, small frothy white to off-white head, light lacing. Aroma malty, caramel, bit toasted. Taste sweet and bitter, malty, caramel herbal notes, bit watery.

This is not a bitter IPA but a great drinking beer. This was absolutely my favorite NZ beer.
