R.A.M = Raggedy Ass Miner, in reference to the rich mining history of the region.

Black, with just the slightest hint of brown around the edges. Creamy, cappucino coclored nitro head sticks around forever, and leave lots of lace.

Diacetyl and brown roasty malts are evident in the nose. Diacetyl is just a little bit out of hand.

Delicate roast and brown malts are very smooth, very balanced. Not as strongly flavored as I might like, but a very tasty stout. Diacetyl is evident, but not overpowering.

Very smooth body, moderately heavy, awesome for a stout.

Very drinkable. The diacetyl is the only factor keeping this from being one of my favorite stouts.

Originally rated January 21, 2006. On nitro-tap at the brewpub. Pitch black pour with a glowing red glint, with copious lasting light brown head. Lacing sheets the pint. Toasty chocolate, coffee, molasses and alcohol aromas, which could be stronger. The flavors are of bourbon fudge, roasted peppers and chicory. Nutty, with hazle and walnuts. Dry cacao finish with smooth swallow. The best of this brew pub!

A - On-tap at the brewpub, pours pitch black with a thick, creamy, nitrified head. A nice sheet of lacing coats the pint glass as you drink.

S - Scent is minimal, just a hint of coffee and chocolate.

T - Mild to moderate flavors of roasted coffee, chocolate, chicory and sweet molasses. Finishes smooth with a slight coffee bitterness.

M - Heavy and silky smooth, with the nitro keeping the carbonation to a minimum.

D - Sinks right down into the pit of your stomach. Not a bad stout, but it is, of course, heavy and filling.

This is easily the best beer that the KBC offers on a semi-regular basis. Unfortunately, they just rotated it with the very mediocre Coal Porter about two weeks ago, and I'm not sure how often they rotate the two, so I have to wait for this one to come around again.
