Still knocking out 2014 reviews.
A pale ale that is amber in color. 1/5" white head. An aroma of mustiness and bittering hops. All the "metallic" references in the reviews are spot on. Like, you can smell rust forming, perhaps psychosomatically, as the amber/rust color doesn't do your other senses any favors in that department.
Taste is highly bitter, and still metallic. This was Metallica before the Black Album. The bitterness is astringent and powerful relative to the otherwise mild aspects of the beer. If you can get past that, there is a caramel breadiness to it. But it isn't particularly balanced, the malt bill, while it surely has some crystal malt, doesn't seem to have enough basic 2 row. Its like they went with a higher % of specialty malt (crystal) instead of overall malt poundage. Requisite grapefruit rind. To me this is less pale ale and more of a high alpha acid amber ale without much in the way of hop flavor.

Tried it three times. If I could capture the smell of my grandma’s basement and put it in a can, it’d be this beer.
Metallic and a tad musty. Hoppy and some orange tones.
