A-Glowing yet cloudy yellow

S-I really got a lot of wheat on the aroma...reminds me of cream of wheat with fresh banana's for some reason...very subltle cloves..

T-Big banana flavor...tastes like banana bread at some points...really smooth drinking...lacks the lemony acidity found in some hefe's...wheat also evident

M-Medium bodied....smooth...lower carbonation but it is out of a 2 week old growlers so all things considered it is fine.

D-This is a great tasting hefe-weizen for people that really enjoy the banana esters...This has to rank in my top 10...maybe top 5....right there with Dancing Man wheat if not better for Wisconsin Hefe's...probably a little better than my other local favorite hefe (Schells)....a true treat...

Picked up a growler of this ($10 fill) at the Fitchburg Dane. It pours a wonderful sawdusty-yellow body with light airy white head. Translucent body with flour-like yeast suspension. The aroma is filled with phenols and spice. A touch of Witbier influence on the aroma and taste, but a strong Hefeweiss character. No lemon slice necessary in this one as it exudes a large acidic citrus smell. The taste is similar with a tart taste and hearty wheat texture. The flavors are very bold, but also delicate. One of the best wit/weiss session beers I have had in a while. So easy to drink and the ultimate refreshment on a summer day. Well done.

Side note: at the pub, they had Black Earth Porter on cask....heavenly!

I had this one at the Great Dane in Madison on 11/28/2008.

A= This beer poured a cloudy pale gold color with a 3/4" white head. Lots of carbonation release maintained the head for most of the way down the glass.

S= Excellent aromas of bubblegum, fruity esters, bananas, wheat malts, and bakery sweetness.

T= Like the aroma, taste was full of bubblegum and fruity esters on top of wheat malt and banana bread notes. The finish moved into a slightly tart mode before smoothing out in a long pleasant aftertaste.

MF= Lighter side of medium bodied with a nice crispness on the tongue.

D= This was an outstanding hefeweizen. Seriously, it was probably in the top 4 or so I have ever had. Crisp, refreshing, with very good flavors and highly sessionable.

The Crop Circle displays a cloudy yellow-gold body beneath a head of fluffy white that drops shortly after but still maintains a nice, wide, creamy collar.

The nose is sweetly grainy and softly fruity with ripe banana, apple, zippy clove, mild lemon/orange, and a soft note of sweetish vanilla. The wheat malt is discernable, but not as clearly distinct as it is in many American wheats.

The body is medium with a very fine and lightly effervescent carbonation that gently caresses the tongue.

My initial thought upon tasting it was that iit fits right in there with some of the best examples from Germany. It expresses the yeasty esters of a weizen but doesn't hammer them home, and doesn't overdo it on acidity and citric character (as some can). The flavor showcases the soft fruitiness of ripe banana and apple alongside a gentle and mildly spicy clove wrapped in rich sweet malt with just a lightly citrusy tart note to balance it out. The bitterness is restrained enough to let the sweet malt and esters shine, yet firm enough to balance it and usher in a drying finish. Well-rounded!

Kudos!!! Full of character while staying in balance. Refreshing and enjoyable. Quite drinkable.

Crayon yellow under whitened beige.
Fragrant of clove and banana, with perks of citric acidity, vanilla, metal, and stems.
Begins with hallmark hefe traits of banana and cloves, then it gains a dominating vanilla flavor, which, then flees to leave lemon and lime juices in its wake. Turns stonier in the later half, with cherry pits, peppercorns and gravel, coupling with a dry, leafy hop spice.
Medium in stature, and generally brawny for the style.
A well done version. And one I've passed over for far too long.

Served on draught at the Wisconsin Micro-brewers Beerfest in Chilton, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-hazy light golden brew with a thin white head that slowly dissipates to a fine film and white ring. Aroma of light golden grain malt, some yeast, banana esters, cloves and a touch of lemon zest. Taste is light to medium bodied, some carbonation with flavors of golden grain malt with wheat, some banana esters, a touch of cloves with lemon and citrus zest. Finish has a good balance of sweet and dry aftertaste flavors that slowly disappears to a crisp finish. Great hefe beer on tap!

The menu states that Crop Circle Wheat is "served in the traditional manner--unfiltered and accompanied by a slice of lemon." I'm not sure about that tradition, but it did serve to kill the head on the beer. Other than that, it was a cloudy yellow with good lacing that survived the citrus onslaught.

Smells strongly of pineapple, accompanied by some citrus and some wheat. Taste is similar, a pineapple/bubblegum fruitiness with a wheaty, yeasty twang. Dry finish, medium mouthfeel. Pretty refreshing.

My brother and his girlfriend came up for the night and brought along a couple of growlers from The Great Dane (God bless him!!!). One which was full of their Crop Circle Wheat. Though I am a fan of wheat beers I have skipped this one in favor of some more of their interesting brews. Big mistake on my part. This beer is wonderful.
Pours a beautiful cloudy yellow. Nice and opaque with a small head with some nice staying power. The flavors are very typical of a wheat beer with cloves, coriander, banana all there and some citrus on the finish. The hops are very subtle, just barely announcing their presence in both bitterness and aroma. Light body and a slightly creamy carbonation. I am sorry I have passed over this beer so often. This is one that can be enjoyed over and over, especially on a hot, muggy day.

certainly an American-leaning Hefeweizen, but it's all good

a: Huge white head arrives and remains atop a glowing yellow-orange beer. Extremely clouded with yeasts, cannot see a thing through it. Like the color a little more on the orange side, but this is close enough to perfect.

s: Clean on the nose...spicy wheat and yeast aromas with a moderate level of citrus.

m: medium-high carbonation and a medium body

t: Smooth, easy drinking blend of clean wheats and yeasty flavors. Pretty rich with the typical hefe flavors, but more well balanced and flavorful than most. Like the hop levels here.

d: could surely drink a growler by myself, but this night I was pretty full on barleywine, Hop Jack, and London fish fry

ordered this one about half-drunk the night after the great taste...in the biergarden

appearance: i guess i dont pay very close attention at other people drinking but this beer wierded me out...easily the cloudiest hefe i have ever seen and served in a nice large hefe glass...banana-orange colour with a strong beige froth. dont look at it too closely or the brightness may burn your retina. served with a lemon wedge that i promptly stuck on the table. I think this may be a smoothie, not a beer

smell: sweet and summery, bright wheat aroma, banana, fresh yeast, light clove, lemony and citrusy

taste: i could drink a lot of this, but not after eating a huge thing of meatloaf on a brain full of chemicals...anyways, this hefe-smoothie provided nice showings of wheat, orange-citrus, lemon peel, yeast, and clove. will drink again

mouthfeel: a light beer-smoothie, feels like goodness

drinkability: pretty good
