A unique marriage of imported British malts and Pacific Northwest hops creates the biggest and boldest of our regular beer offerings. Our Imperial India Pale Ale is a formidable, west-coast style India Pale Ale, loaded with the pine and citrus flavors and aromas of multiple hops from that region, all on top of a rich and warming malt base. Please approach our Imperial IPA with respect.

draught
Combination of medium chestnut and light orange appearance. Laid back medium dark caramelized malt aroma. A bit of a general citrus peel flavor and medium caramelized toasted malt up front, in the taste. Finishes with a medium candied malt flavor, leading to a citrus peel finale.

on tap from my kegerator
poured into Belgian ale glass
A - 2 fingers of khaki over a somewhat opaque body of deep amber, excellent lacing
S - pine, citrus, touch of malt sweetness
T - big pine flavor, juicy citrus, touch of caramel sweetness in the background, bitter/dry finish
M - oily full body, medium carbonation; very nice
O - an excellent IPA brewed close to home; I'm really enjoying having this on tap!

On draft. Served in a pint glass. Pours a clear medium yellow, slightly copper hued body, one finger white head, fair retention, not much lacing. Smell is fairly malt-forward, with a crisp barley and malt sweetness, caramel and a light lemon and zest; maybe a little resin. Not too riveting, toasted grains are pretty strong on the nose and on the palate, where there is a slight bit of caramel and lemon to go along with the grains. Not particularly interesting, mildly bitter without too much nuance to the medium body that it comes with. Fairly decent carbonation. Compared to 5 years ago when I first had this, I think this IPA has been left behind by most of the newer ones that have come out even around town.

Imperial IPA pours a darker copper color with a big lacing head. Maltier aroma, with hints of hops. Taste was light, and balanced. Some noticeable hop but sweet malts come through. A bit watery and flat. Overall, not bad, but nothing special.
