So this is what I found in my dad's fridge during an impromptu trip to their place this past weekend. Pours out of its can with a quick head of foam that settles to a very thin ring. Dark gold in colour, possesses a deeper tone than a normal adjunct lager. Sharp grain husks and corn on the nose, not very appealing. The flavour itself is abyssmal, like being served the dregs of the brewing vat, I know no other realistic way to describe this. For a 6.2% abv the mouthfeel is overwhelmingly watery, very thin, no body whatsoever. It seems that this was produced to be sheer piss-up juice strictly for easy chugging and quicker inebriation for your hard earned buck. I rarely use the term, but this is swill. To be avoided.

Appearance - Unlike most Mountain Crest beers, this one actually doesn't go flat immediately. Still, little head, below average appearance.

Smell - Unremarkable, slight hint of sweet malts.

Taste - Initially has a sweet malt flavor with sour undertones, with the alcohol (6.2%) becoming more apparent in the aftertaste towards the finish.

Mouthfeel - Light body, crisp texture.

Average drinkability.

Better than most offerings I've tried from this brewery, but unless you like cheap quantity over decent quality, give this one a pass.

Not exactly sure what they we trying to acheive in this "strong ice beer". Gold color, fizzy head that quickly disappears to nothing. Almost no aroma, maybe wet straw or grain, kind of sweet smell. First taste is sour on the tongue. Watery and thin, no body, and an alcohol after taste. Should have known better : High alcohol % plus low cost equals no good.

Aug 2008 Re-review.
710ml (24oz) King Can, with price of $2.99 printed on the can.
Head stayed a bit longer. Taste is actually better than I remember, not enough to make it more than a cheap one dimensional beer. Might be the best of the Mountain Crest group of offerings.
