A - Looks a bit like a black soda pop. The head lasts momentarily and fizzles away much like a pop. What's left is a mass of dark, opaque brown with ruby highlights. No on the lacing.

S - Mmmm...now we're talking. Chocolatey, caramel, roasted malts. On point. The sweetness is there but I'm in the mood for it.

T - Relatively non-descript. The usual roasty malts, with a relatively complex malt bill. Slightly earthy. Slight mineral undertones. Nothing that's knocking my socks off, but nothing off.

M - A little lighter and more carbonated than I was expecting for an Oatmeal Stout. I want creamy goodness!

D - Not horrendous but nothing to really go outta my way for. I'd pick up ONE more bottle to see if the mouthfeel ever calmed down on a different batch.

Notes: Adam gave this to me a while ago, and it's sat dormant in my fridge for ages. I saw it today and was just in the mood... to be frank, it could be slightly better in looks and mouthfeel, but it's worthy of a bit more than the credit it gets.

Bottle poured into a pint glass. Recieved as an extra somewhere... I wish I hadn't lost my spreadsheet to let me know who sent it.

Black body with a fair sized tan head.
Some roast, some background sweetness, a bit of that typical oatmeal stout smell, a real nice sweetness in the background.
Tastes like dark malts, not much chocolate or roast in this but just a little bit present, some caramel and oat taste, medium body with a fair amount of carbonation.

Overall a decent beer. Not much going on with the flavor though, pretty boring. I wouldn't mind drinking it again if I wanted a beer but it's really boring for the style. There are a lot of other stout's I'd like to drink.

A 12 oz bottle courtesy of bwyker.

A: The stout is a dark brown-black coffee color. An off-white head quickly dissapated down to a thin band.

S: The aroma has a lactic, sweet oatmeal edge that emerges from the roasted body. At times, the graininess is overwhelming and detracts from the oatmeal.

T: The stout body is decent, maintaining a roasted flavor but coming up short at times. Luckily the sweet flecked oatmeal injects much-needed sweetness. The sweetness is syrupy at times but manages to remain strong throughout the ale.

M: The syrupy sweetness comes close to cloying but holds up well.

D: The stout is decent, a smooth oatmeal stout that won't wow you but will keep you happy.

Bottle to Tulip.

A - Dark brown, almost black pour. Little to none, light brown head. What little head it did have dissipated very quickly. Looks relatively smooth, nothing chewy or viscous about the appearance.

S - Oatmeal. Lots of oatmeal. Light burnt notes. Caramel on the back end.

T - Caramel up front. Following up with oatmeal. Almost overpowering at times. Some burnt, toasted characteristics also.

M - Light carbonation. Decent. On par with what I expected. Thin.

O - It's an okay stout. Could be a okay substitute to missing out on your old stand-by but it's nothing to call home about. Not what I had hoped for in an oatmeal stout.
