On tap at the brewpub in Troy.

Clear and amber, a bit hazy, with a nice head and lacing.

Smells a bit malty sweet, with the same Mt. Hood hop profile as Brown's regular IPA: herbal, citric and grassy.

Taste is similar to the nose, with a dose of sweet malt and a juicy citric and herbal hop character. It's stickier than their regular IPA, but not overwhelmingly pungent. Finish is bitter.

Mouthfeel is pretty heavy for the style and creamy.

This is a good seasonal and one of my favorite Brown's beers. I wish they would stray from their regular IPA recipe, but this is a slight one-up on their regular IPA because of the fresh-hop quality. Not the best harvest beer you'll find, though.

I believe this is what I had. Although the current (2019) iteration clocks in at 7.35%. All wet hopped with chinook; it's a nice treat with local ingredients.

Clear yellow-gold color with a medium white head. Solid, thick bands of lace.
The flavor follows the aroma with layers of green hoppiness featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar, and tropical fruit. Bitter grassy citrus flave, a bit vegetal, gently toasted pale grains. Med-dry and lasting finish.

Draught @ brewpub: This one pours a clear, darker golden color. There was about a finger of an off white head. It left some lacing. It has a lighter nose. Hops are predominate. Citrus and pine notes. Some malts poking thru. The taste is good. Somewhat bitter, with pine and citrus flavors on top. Malts trying to get noticed, but just fall short. Some earthiness also. Nice.

Had on tap at The City Beer Hall's Hop Harvest special,

A-Cloudy amber orange, the bartender didn't put much head on it but it still looked nice.

S-Going into it I was a little disappointed with the nose, a little bland, picked up some earthy tones and a little bit of citrus.

T-Yum, Rather earthy with some citrus as well. Ends with a decent amount of bitterness with good balance.

M-Medium bodied, decent carbonation, smooth and slightly thick as well.

O-I think I am in love with Fresh Hop IPAs, this is not the best out there but people in the area should seek it out every September, October. The taste linger for a while, worth the experience.

A: Bold amber body. Barely any head. The body is crystal clear.

S: Hops baby hops. Good caramel sweetness but definitely damn citrusy.

T: Hoppy but smooth; a welcome mix. Tons of hop flavor but totally balanced. Bitterness just edges out malty caramel sweetness. I love when hoppy beers are flavor and aroma driven as opposed to bitterness driven.

M: Med body with good smoothness.

D: Showing the NY love with this one. All the hops are from the Empire State so I definitely appreciate that. A great beer and I love when they have it on tap in the fall.

The beer pours a hazy dark golden/amber color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a solid malt scent that boasts of pale and Carapils malts along with a very nice hop aroma. The taste is decent. It has a very bitter hop flavor that really resinates. The malt character is lacking a bit. It has a soapy taste with a mild metallic finish. I love the hop character in this beer. I wish the malt bill was a bit more complex. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium/full bodied beer with good carbonation. This is a good drinking IPA. I could sit down and have a few of these.

Look is light orange with a honey colored shine. Puffy white head. Good lace. Lots of carbonation.

Smell is bitterish woody hops with a wet almost amberish malt. Secondary flowery character in the hops. Hoppy as heck but also balanced.

Taste is heavy hop flavor; butter but also a bit sweet. Starts off woody but then turns flowery.

Creamy and smooth feel. Medium thickness. Leaves a bitter film. Overall it's bitter and yet very drinkable. Nice and hoppy and a little malty.

Another Brown's brew my buddy Kaleb got for me, thanks pal.

22 oz. bomber poured into a nonic.

Pours a rustic amber with a one finger light khaki colored head that dies down to a thin chunky layer. Creamy webbing left on the sides of the glass, great stickiness to this one. Smell is a sweet floral perfume with a tiny bit of pine. A light citrus scent is noticable as well. But overall the smell is pretty weak. Wow, the taste was definitely not what I had expected. The mouthfeel stands out right at the start. A texture almost like a milkshake with a hidden carbonation. A dirty hop flavor up front with a sweet lemongrass taste. I'm not sure about this taste, it seems to be all over the place It's almost trying to be like the Ithaca DIPA, but falls so short. Next up from Brown's: E.S.B.

This is a really nice hoppy beer. The coloring is excellent - nice amber color with a good white head that sticks to the sides of the glass. The aroma is really good - very flowery hops that overpower the malt undertones. The taste is the same. A hop explosion at first contact that is really bitter but really refreshing. It's aftertaste is a bit dry, but that is with most IPAs. The carbonation was nice and I could drink a few of them in a row if I wanted, but I had to try the rest while I was at Brown's. Good beer, very good IPA. I recommend it.

Pours a hazy deep golden yellow with a thin, lasting creamy white head that leaves some lacing on the glass.

The smell is of citrus with plenty of caramelish sweetness in the back. Not bad at all, but more of a pale ale aroma.

The citric hops become much more noticeable upon the taste. Caramelish sweetness almost overtakes it on the second sip, but then backs off allowing citrus, an earthiness, and eventually pine to come through nicely, putting on a good hop show, but tied together with balancing malt. Bitter dryness in the finish.

Medium, slightly chewy, body.

This is well-balanced for the style. The hops are certainly in the forefront, though they fade a bit at times. This is a tough style to compete with today, with all the IPA's out there, but this one holds its own nicely. Easy to drink and enjoyable!

Got it on tap at Brown's this past weekend.

A: Slightly dark golden with a small white head that didn't last long. Some sticky lacing as I drank my way down it.

S: All hops -- grassy, piney hops.

T: Like the nose: basically all hops. The hops tasted too fresh, if that makes any sense -- primarily green, grassy and leafy. Like biting into a summer fruit that should be sweet but hadn't ripened yet and left just a bitter taste in your mouth. That aftertaste lingered and frankly wasn't all that pleasant.

M: Surprisingly light in both color and body, though that overwhelming bitter grassy hoppiness made it tough on the mouth, leaving a bitter, sour taste.

D: I'm a real fan of the hop, but this brew just seemed too young and the hops were too bitter without any other sort of balance (like florally hops or malty sweetness). I finished my pint, but I didn't hesitate to try something different for my next beer.

Notes: I was surprised by the appearance when the bartender gave it to me -- that shade of golden just didn't seem right for an IPA; I expected it to be more amber in color. . . . It's an interesting concept and kudos to Brown's for trying this, but I think they need to either find a different type of locally-grown hops (one with a less bitter, grassy flavor) or up the malts in the recipe, to give it heft, color and a sweeter counterweight to the bitter hops flavors.

Brewed with NY State grown Willamette in the boil and fresh (not dried) locally grown (in Pittstown!) Cascades for aroma. Pours a slighty cloudy dark gold with a white head. The aroma is fresh, leafy hops over faint caramel maltiness.

Really great balance - starts out with a leafy hoppiness that's not overpowering, balanced by toasty, caramel - like maltiness and a noble hop spiciness. The bitterness is solid but not overdone. The finish is the neat part - there's the leafy yet subdued citrus from Cascade, but also the malt and bitterness that fades away after 15 seconds or so to a residual toasty/malty flavor akin to one of those dark brown fat Pennsylvania Dutch pretzels. Sounds weird, but it's really good. Not overpowering chewiness, and while I don't know the ABV as yet, the bartender siad "It's pretty strong." I'd guess around 7% - to be confirmed this weekend.

Only available on tap and for growler fills - they're most likely not bottling any of this one.
