Wow! This "black as pitch" beer pours with a nitrogenated head that is thick and creamy. The retention is so good, that at the end of the pint, there is still a thick head on the bottom of the glass. The aroma is heavy on the roasted scents, with touches of milk chocolate and hops as well. Very pleasing to the nose. The flavor also displays a strong roastiness up front, with a big coffee kick. A touch of sweetness and velvet choclolate notes smooth the beer through the finish, which is accented by an adequate hop bitterness to cleanse the palate. Exceptionally smooth mouthfeel on a light body typically found dry stouts. Truly a treat for the senses. Glad it was happy hour, so I could put a little bigger dent in this freshly tapped keg! This beer was the highlight of my visit. Unfortunately, it is not a regular offering, but rotates with three other stouts. This one is good enough to make me come back for the rest.

An exceptional milk stout. Pours an opaque, dark hazy brown with a dense, creamy, dark brown head that starts off with velvety chocolate. Underneath lies a silky, rich roasty brew with just a hint of sweetness. The lactose sugar enriches the body but does not overwhelm the nicely integrated malt flavors. Mouthfeel is superb, coating the palate with caramel and chocolate and leaving you begging for more. The understated sweetness drives the drinkability through the roof. Finishes oh so smooth with the hops balancing the sweetness but not coming to the fore. A fine example of an under represented style.
