Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a half finger white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt, wheat, grassy continental hops, lightly spicy. Flavor follows with biscuit malt, lightly grainy, grassy hops. Long wheat and biscuit finish with lingering hop bitterness. Light to medium bodied with nice active carbonation. A nice domestic take on a moderately hoppy German lager. The malt is flavorful, reminiscent of a rich wheat cereal. Hops are clearly European varieties, with a mostly grassy and hay profile.

Judging it by the lager style, this is damn good.

Served in a Bud Tumbler

Look : Gold blonde color, effervescent bubbles floating and flying to the top to continue forming the already wonderfully tight and creamy cap. The head is so thick and juicy, it's a marvel. Dip your finger in, whipped cream like consistency. It's great.

Smell : Faint smelling, but with fruity esters, biscuit malts, slight spicey pine.

Taste : A delicious fruitiness with banana and raspberry develops as the pine-sprinkled cracker and biscuit fade from the finish. A slight yeastiness also shows up, which I like. Helles Lager? More like...unique Helles Lager. Pine sprinkles fade out the finish but a yeastiness also really balances it nicely. The esters and fruit are matched by a yeast presence and it balances out the pine and cracker nicely.

Feel : Moderately creamy, distinctly perfect carbonation - well executed. Semi dry finish wraps up this whole shindig.

Overall : I'd have it again. A nice take on the Helles which isn't always a pleasant beer to drink.

12oz can, no date, served into 16oz tulip

A – Pours a deep and bright yellow with a bright white head that disappears quite quickly, buy leaves behind some adequate lacing.

S – Smells of pale and almost cereal like malts, slight bitter hop.

T – Pale malts, slightly sweet, pretty unassuming.

M – Medium, almost heavy for the style here, but not in a bad way.

O – Nice enough, a palate cleanser if nothing else.

12oz can poured into straight pint glass. Poured a lightly hazy straw gold color with just a thin cap of white head that immediately dissipated into a thin ring.

The aroma was nice base malts and some earthy hops. The beer was pretty similar on the tongue. A pleasant amount of grain, and some earthy, yet crisp, hops that had a nice tang.

The body was smooth and even, with a semi-sweet finish that some ended with a certain dryness. Drinkability was excellent, the beer went down smoothly and evenly. Overall, a very nice beer with which to celebrate SBW'15. It doesn't quite meet the standards of the peak examples of the style, but is still a very nicely built beer. Worth drinking a few when you see it.
