A seemingly magical reaction between a specialized yeast strain, oats, wheat, and an experimental hop variety results in a blossom of wondrous, tropical fruit flavor that is a feast for the eyes as well as the palate, with a silky-smooth texture and a remarkably clean finish.

In the 2023 beer advent calendar.

Tropical? Check. Hazy? Check. Memorable? No. It's just like every other IPA out there these days. You can't go two feet without tripping over another one claiming to be Tropical and Hazy-- which are the exact opposite of what an India Pale Ale is. I'm sick to death of Simcoe and Citra hops in every IPA. My God I miss cascade hops and the classic West coast IPA profile.

Pours a cloudy orange straw with a finger of foamy head that slowly settles to a thin cap with plenty of lacing. Aroma of orange and citrus. Taste follows nose.

Tasted on tap in a random bar in Boise, Idaho. I was not very impressed with the sample I had. It was a fairly good-loooking hazy IPA, but it did not have distinctive aromas or flavors. Nothing was off, but the aromas and flavors seemed muted and uninteresting. It was a very commonplace-seeming hazy. Looking at the other reviews and scores on BA, I wonder if the keg or taplines in this bar were not treated well, leading to the beer losing some of its charm. However, all I can do is "call it like I saw it."

Poured from 12oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 10/10/22. It's almost shocking that I have not officially reviewed this yet -- I've had hundreds upon hundreds of servings of Tropic Haze over the years.

Appearance: hazy yellow hue with a thick layer of creamy ivory foam atop. Pretty!

Smell: lightly sweet malt aroma with a good orange and pineapple character. The sweetness and zest give it that classic "orange julius" character. Love it!

Taste: sweetish malt with a very zest-forward orangey character. There's a bit of crackery malt character toward the middle, and a more herbal hop finish. Not quite as compelling as the aroma, but still good.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: I mean, this beer has been such a go-to for me over the years, that it's almost hard to rate fairly at this point. But I'm gonna give it extra points just because it's such a classic beer for me.

From the can at T-Mobile Park section 321. Overpriced at the game but an enjoyable NEIPA.

19.2oz can from Albertsons. Golden/yellow hazy pour with a small persistent fluffy head. Tropical fruity aroma, a bit of stone fruit too. Taste is tropical fruit, a little hoppy, zesty bite, melon. Finishes quick.

I don't know how they do it but I would buy this IPA any time for myself and friends. So far, this is my favorite HAZY IPA on the market. Hands down, you will not be disappointed. Try it and you will feel the same.

Appearance: Pours a somewhat cloudy honey color with a two finger head; excellent retention with squiggles and shards of lacing

Smell: Juicy combination of orange and pink grapefruit

Taste: Orange and pink grapefruit juice flavors from the outset, with a big juicy character; the finish has a combination of perfume and grapefruit pith

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: The finish is a little odd but the juice and the bitterness both bring a lot to commend this PNW NE IPA

Thanks, BEER88, for the opportunity

Second impressive hoppy brew I’ve tried from Silver City; 12oz canned 10/26 and poured into a pint glass.

A: As advertised, its hazy; fairly thick gold with a fluffy off-white head. Attractive.

S: Tropical fruit for sure; pineapple, mango? Orange pith, grapefruit, apricot, and some piney resin.

T: Tropical upfront and throughout - not quite as in-your-face as Ride the Spiral, but I’m assuming no fruit additions in this particular brew. Wheat makes a nice bready backbone to the sweet, juicy, citrusy tropical fruit bowl.

MF: Nice, impressive even for a 6.4% abv IPA; fluffy, smooth, and creamy. Lower bitterness.

O: Overall another impressive brew from SC, I look forward to trying more of their lineup, especially in the 12oz format, which is much appreciated.
