This beer was served at the Pumpkin Fest at Elysian brewery in Seattle as a guest brew. The brewery calls it a smoked pumpkin Keller Bock and details it was started with a mini-mash of a 10 lb. applewood smoked pumpkin and 5 lbs. of Pilsner malt. Brewed with Pilsner and Munich malts and pitched with lager yeast. Starting gravity of 16.6 degrees plato.

What an interesting beer! Poured dark amber with a touch of orange with a head that faded to a thin cap. Some lacing. On the nose, there is smoke first, followed by brown sugar and creamy pumpkin. Startling but excellent combination of aromas. The taste is equally rewarding. Very well balanced flavors of smoke and creamy pumpkin- amazing! Not quite as meaty as a typical Rauchbier, the sweetness of the pumpkin works well here. The Mouthfeeel is very creamy but not too thick. One of the more original beers I've had in a while. Kudos!
