Taste: subtle hops, semi sour yeast bread notes. Same with the floral hop nose. Gold, clear, with not much head and some delicate lace. Medium almost lite body. Summertime ale. 40 IBUs

This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a hazy burnt ruddy orange color with a thin finger’s worth of white foamy head that quickly dissipated. Remnants of some moderately light lace formed light wide streams sticking to the glass. The smell started off with some sweet dried onion running over some grassy tones. Opens up into some sweet citrus as it warms. The taste was mainly the same in a mild sort of way. Light sliding dry and dirty grassiness in the aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body. Definitely sessionable. Some bitterness hits my tongue shyly. Overall, as a session IPA, I can see it. I just can’t see it as a stand out one.

Appearance: Cloudy amber, with a nice big white head of suds and lots of lace.

Aroma: Citrus hops. Decent.

Taste: Nicely hopped here, with tropical notes and hints of grapefruit, pineapple, and a satisfying malt balance. Solid IPA here, plentifully hoppy and easy to drink.

Bottle to snifter.

LOOK: clear yellow, some globules and sediment. Giant white head , lasts awhile, then fades.
AROMA: lemon, grains, some hops.
TASTE: some citrus like hops, soapy aftertaste is offputting.
FEEL: medium body, good carbonation.

Not bad.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 12 oz bottle on January 15, 2016. Look is gold with a thick white head and sticky lacing. Smell and taste is bitter hops, citrus and grass with cracker malt aromas and flavors. Feel is light but not thin and finishes crisp.

A: Poured from the bottle into a Duvel tulip. Body is Golden with a small white head. Legs of lace.

S: Not pleasant; something is a little "off" here. Like earthy chalk with some sweet candied oranges underneath it all.

T: Big on the malt foundation - or rather, on the sweetness. Modest hop presence, perfumey and a wee bit of citrus. There's more flavor here than in your average Session IPA, but it's not hoppy enough.

M: Sharp bite; on the light - to - medium in heft side.

O: OK.

I bought a bottle of the Low Key off the single shelf at Binnys. It poured a slightly hazy orangish with white head that is leaving a nice lace. The scent is sweet malt with bitter hop presence. The taste starts sweeter then finishes bitter....with caramel being sweet and pine like bitter. The Mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it's ok certainly worth a try.

A: slight haze; deep gold in color; 1 finger ivory head that receded to a wispy cap; very nice lacing;

S: predominant aroma is artificial vanilla; behind that are hints of earthiness and citrus - mostly grapefruit;

T: dull, non-descript citrus with a hint of earthiness from start to finish; mild bitterness at the end;

M: medium bodied; moderate to high carbonation - quite effervescent; moderately dry finish;

O: interesting for the aroma - I've never smelled vanilla in an IPA (that wasn't intended); other than that, I'm happy that the beer had more balance than most session IPAs.

12 oz bottle Typical Pale ale look, slightly hazed and decent looking head, film lace etc

Mild and soft hops on the nose, ferfumey, citric

Decent sessioner, all these session IPA start to taste the same, but here the hop package is pretty tasty, I'm getting some pine, and lime. Worthy

Another new one from for me from MH's new IPPA sampler, which is a cool idea in theory if not in practice. Solid white head on top of a translucent ochre body. Lacing appears as the head recedes, as it ought. Nose is grassy with grapefruit but little obvious hops otherwise.

Tight bodied in flavor, and extra carbonated. Definitely features citrus and other fruit flavors but also an astringence that alters the flavor away from traditional IPA style and takes it in some strange places. The texture opens up and is refreshing with an oily finish but I still feel like something is missing. Not awful, and better made than most MH products, but not my cup of teas.

Bought in Vermont at the Cold Hollow Cider Mill. The beer had a murky, brown-orange appearance with a thin ring of retention around the glass. Aromas include hops with grapefruit and an airy grass smell. Taste sort of follows the nose, but the taste does feel a little bit watery leaning toward a light citrus flavor. Mouthfeel is ok with a decent carbonation that helps the beer be light. Overall, not too bad with a good look and aromas.

12oz undated can.

Pours hazy gold with some tattered lacing and minimal retention. Aromatics are subdued with barely a trace of hops. Faint orange and apple skins. Light bodied and crisp. A hint of apricot and biscuit crumbs on the palate. Dry with zero malt and medium bitterness. Finishes quick with a hint of citrus.

I'd say this is a very unoffensive beer but I'm offended by the lack of hops.

Overall a nice session beer. Smells of grassy grapefruit, with a juicier citrus flavor. There's a touch of caramel and bread crust in the background. I'd say it's a fine lower-ABV pale ale, not quite as hoppy as most session IPAs but tasty. Call it an American bitter and I'm happy.

Undated bottle into pint glass. Pours a pale straw color. Slightly cloudy. Light off-white head. Initial impression is a slightly bitter citrus rind with a sort of earthy finish. Medium-to-light mouthfeel and medium-to-heavy carbonation. Quite refreshing and, at 4.5%, quite sessionable. I'm not a big fan of Magic Hat, and Low Key isn't gonna change that. It's not bad, but it's nowhere near the top of my list.

Pours cloudy, orange-yellow in color, with 1/4 inch head. Taste is citrus rind--lemon, grapefruit, cracker, and grain. Not a bad beer, and certainly worth a shot if you like Magic Hat. I just prefer several others in the style and find this to be slightly below average.

I've had quite a few Magic Hats lately and this Low Key Session IPA is definitely sessionable and definitely good.

Very nice coloration with little head but good lacing down the glass. The odor is mostly citrus with hints of some distinctive hops, the citrus overpowering the hops, but not in a bad way, at all. Though the brew is quite carbonated, I didn't find it not to my liking. It was certainly more carbonated than I prefer, but I've had many better beer which much worse carbonation. The taste is slightly fruity with a "hoppyness" I quite enjoy (and that's coming from a guy not much into IPAs - but willing to give any new one a try.) Was it the best the IPA I've had - no, But it was certainly one of the better ones.

Color kind of lacing for this low bitterness I can not forgive the haziness of the beer. Head is OK with a 1/4 inch that takes a bit to dissipate. Smell is low bitterness and grainy. Taste has that graininess one usually avoids in an IPA with some mild lemon hops that never gets bitter. Finish is crisp and goes down smooth.

Overall its grainy but smooth but no where close to world class session IPA's

3/13...bright gold, very low foam, still. Very mild malt nose, almost no aroma. Clean crisp citrus forward taste, light spicy hop. Thin mouthfeel, fast finish. Only a light lemon and a tiny bitter tell you this is an IPA. Simple.

A typical session IPA, ...except there's more body here than most in the style. Gold color, thin white effervescent head, sharp hop nose with a grassy note, fuller mouthfeel than most session IPAs, I liked it.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.

Clear pale dull golden hue, great looking head. Orangey and grapefruit zest, crackers, & dried grass in the nose. A little thin but that is expected, some body with a mild crispness. Some citrus rind and bitterness from the hops, thin graininess with a long lingering grassy tone. How much of this is an IPA or just a hoppy pale ale is up to you. Pretty good but there is not much to it, nothing really pops.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 2/10/2016. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy bright golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apricot, apple, light pepper, pine, wheat, cracker, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of citrus/fruity/pine hops and light pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apricot, apple, light pepper, pine, wheat, cracker, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of herbal/pine/citrus rind/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon/orange rind, pear, apricot, apple, pepper, pine, wheat, cracker, bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good balance and solid robustness of citrus/fruity/pine hops and light pale malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and minimal astringent hop flavors after the finish. High amount of dryness from bitterness/body as well. Medium-high carbonation and light body; with a very smooth, crisp, sticky/resinous, and slightly grainy/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is a pretty good session IPA. All around good balance and solid robustness of citrus/fruity/pine hops and light pale malt flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink. A pleasantly enjoyable offering with a unique hop profile.

Fairly clear deep gold with a smallish bubbly white head. Solid caramel and toffee maltiness with some earthy spicy light citrus hop aroma and flavor. I'm still not a fan of this style, but this beer isn't half bad.

Poured on draft at Buffalo Wild Wings. Pours a hazy orange with a 2 inch head that leaves behind plenty of lace.

Smell is mango, pine, tangerine, and grapefruit.

Taste follows tropical mango, tangerine upfront with a little burst of piney grapefruit in the crisp finish.

Mouthfeel is actually close to medium which you wouldn't expect from a session IPA, plenty of life, not really dry, and as expected excellent drinkability.

Overall I am surprised how much I enjoyed this, Magic Hat and session IPA'S aren't normally my thing, but very solid.
