Poured from a 16 oz. can with bottom printed: "Debuted on 080917"
Canned on 8/9/17?
6.6% abv.
Moderate pour yields a one inch white head over a medium amber body with some sticky lacing. Dissipates down to a ring in a few minutes. After a couple swirls head with lacing comes back. Nose of tropical fruit, slight pine, and even slighter citrus. Taste of some fruit, bitter pine, and slight citrus pith. Okay feel and overall, a pretty good IPA from MH.

Tall can, with canning date info on the bottom....08 09 17

Pours with more then a moderate haze, typical almond amber - fluffy light khaki cap and leaving looser bubble, low sheting

Sniff reveals notes of grapefruit, pine, light pepper.

Nicely balanced IPA with citrus up front, grapefruit, pineapple, orange, balanced with vanilla/maple malts...darn respectable...best beer I have had from MH in quite a while

16 oz. Can. 9/26/17 opened on 11/3/17 6.6 % abv. 66 IBU

A golden/amber body, well carbonated with a rather elevated, thick, rich and creamy looking white foamy cap. Lots of sticky lace all around the glass.

The aroma brings forth some cherry wood, floral sweetness, herbal orange and some assorted earthy tones. A rich, dank fruits and wet earth thing makes for a very unique nose overall.

The flavor is a rather high toned, sharp noted hop complexity, dry earth, crispy leaves, dark wheat and a pretty hefty "dry hopped" style bitter bite. Citric acid, sweet amber style malted barley keeps the balance and body in check. This onebis more lije the older West coast style ipa's with a very assertive bitter bite and hefty malt presence. The hop flavor is very interesting and does have a few layers to sift through. Juicy fruity tones pop out later amoungnst the rich earthy effects later on.

The body is a juicy medium feel, very clean with fruit juice and earthy hop notes spilling out. Medium to light feel that finishes refreshing and never really dry.

"Taken for granite" harkens back to a time when the market wasn't so saturated by the IPA styles. Magic Hat was a major influence in changing peoples palates toward a more intense and extreme posdibilty of what an IPA could be. TFG reminds us that Magic Hat can still compete.

Usually not a fan of this brewery, but I got a free can from a buddy.
This was poured into a becher pint glass.
The appearance was a semi-murky/dark copper color with a finger's worth of a white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Slight lace ran here and there.
The aroma had some sweet grapefruit and orange character running into some sweet onion and becoming a little bit danky. Grassy bitter ends - somewhat hoppy.
The flavor was moderately sweet pulling in a hot/boozy-like extra taste just before the aftertaste came in speaking of the grapefruit and boozy/hot and onion dankiness.
The mouthfeel was between light and medium bodied with an okay sessionability about it. Boozy hotness came in a bit strong with a good carbonation about it. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, aromas and some of the flavors were the best thing about this beer. I will say this: they've brewed worse beers. This, with a little tweaking, I think I could come back to.

This was billed as "Magic Hat's comeback" to the beverage manager at the bar where I drank it.

A weird melding of west coast and NE IPA, but doing neither well enough. Bitter and citrus/tropical notes with no real depth. Light pine. It has that London Ale yeast sweetness. Thin bodied. Unremarkable in every sense of the word.

A - beautiful hazy kind of east coast style IPA

S - smells delightful! Fruity notes of citrus and peach

T - nicely balanced between the malt and hops and not as overwhelmingly fruity as the smell would suggest, but seems to get fruitier as you drink it. Magical

M - medium body

O - does TFG stand for Too F****** Good? A really impressive beer from Magic Hat

Many thanks to SawDog505 for this can!

Canned 08/09/17

A - Pours a hazy medium dark orange color with dense, thin, vibrant white lacing.

S - Aroma is balanced between malt and light tropical fruit with delicate pepper.

T - Balanced all the way through. The malt base is subdued underneath with some citrus, earthiness, and a lingering pine bitterness.

M - Medium body.

O - Very thankful to have tried this but pretty "meh". (Unfortunately.)

Pours a nice golden blonde hue with a one-finger head into my glass. Grapefruit, peach and orange notes in the nose. Juicy upfront with a nice malt base. Somewhat thin body with metallic aftertaste. Not quite there yet.
