Notes / Commercial Description:
In medieval times, the celebration of darkness and light was marked with great halls filled with smoke and mirrors. Gilded goblets brimming with seasonal brews were lifted to lips speaking a language no longer known. The present connects the past through the brewer’s art and a beer of utter darkness is born - Feast of Fools Raspberry Stout. Gather thy friendly fools for a round and celebrate the oncoming darkness with sweet ale and glee.

On tap at Vermont tap house, Williston, VT. This was poured into a flared tulip. The appearance was a dark ruddy brown color with no head due to a bar pour. The smell had sweet and tart raspberries up front. Light cocoa and a decent blend of smoke comes in for the balance. The taste was sweet with a touch of tartness from the raspberries to meld with the cocoa. Nice balance. Slight smoke again. On the palate, this was rounded out to medium body with a tart to semi sharp bitter to sour feel. Overall, definitely a fruit beer on here since not enough oomph on the body. And definitely one of the better beers by this company.

Bomber into a snifter appears dark brown in color with a khaki head.

Aroma comes across like a tootsie roll, chocolate with light fruity aspect, earth and minerals.

Tastes fruity with a backing that seems like cola and chocolate with some meaty/mineral aftertaste.

Light in body with modest carbonation. Its alright, nothing I feel I need to have again.

While this is a stout, it has a feel more like a brown ale. The fruit smell and taste seemed underwhelming to me. That being said I enjoyed the beer for want it was.

12/4/16....pours dark brown, lighter if you look for it, very light ring of foam. Roasted coffee nose. Slight burnt aroma. Hints of fruit but barely there. Rich roasted stout flavor, coffee/dark chocolate pushes and closes with a modest fruitiness. Berries are evident but late.

Poured into a 16 oz Woodstock Inn Brewery snifter not sure when it was bottled and is now 7.2% ABV. Pours a very dark brown with a one inch off white head that leaves minimal lace.

Smell is raspberry, dark chocolate, vanilla, coffee, and butter.

Taste follows raspberry, dark chocolate, vanilla, faint coffee, and still getting hints of butter.

Mouthfeel is a little less than medium, plenty of life, a little dry, and excellent drinkability.

Overall this is a very solid stout, a little thin and sweet are my only real issues.

Black pour with almost no head, just a ring. Aroma is nice blend of roasted malts, almost as if there's some oats present, and a hint of chocolate. I was disappointed not to detect raspberry. Flavor is much similar. It's good stuff - smooth and chocolaty, but really have to search for the raspberry. It's a bit thin as well.

A personal whale of mine. Nice body with subtle hints of chocolate and raspberries. Although a little thinner than I was expecting. Glad I got to try it and it has definitely been myfavoritefeom magic hat so far.

22 oz. Bomber
2015 Limited Release

Pours a very nice dark brown color, with some very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy light tan head, which also leaves a pretty big island and some very nice sticky lacing. The nose is malty, very nice chocolate note, some toffee, nice raspberry note, nice roastyness. The taste is very nice malty, sweet, very nice chocolate/toffee/raspberry notes, nice little roastyness. Medium body, ABV hidden very well. Overall, this one really surprised me. Recommended.

this is a really neat beer, something very different, even in a fairly esoteric style like the fruited stout, this stands out. pretty cool to get a bottle for two bucks at grapevine. not a beer that struggles with a few months on it, and that blow out price was a steal for a beer this good in a bomber. it looks thick, but not as dark as most stouts, more of a brown ale appearance to it, although there is plenty of viscosity and some haze. not a tall head, but whats there sticks around. the raspberry is both sweet and tart, its definitely fresh fruit, a little jammy, very summery, tangy, vibrant. the chocolate notes in the grain bill accentuate and compliment the fruit beautifully. deep cocoa and even molasses like raw cane flavors surround the fruit, and its amazing. definitely a christmas sort of flavor complexion, but i dont think its limited to the winter time because of how seasonal and bright the fruit is in here. it really stops short on the grain side of going all the way down to roasted barley, it ends before that, toasted not roasted, dark but not charred. it leaves the chocolate more forward which i dig here, and it doesnt over bitter the raspberry. oddly yeasty for what it is, which is my one real sort of question mark around this one, it doesnt need to be that way, but it doesnt bother me much. less carbonation that it might have too, but overall a really fun beer with the intense raspberry and the molasses aspect to the malt. amazing price too.

650ml bottle. Served in a snifter glass.

Pours a dark black body, opaque, one finger offwhite head with minimal retention, no lacing. Smells of raspberry puree, a bit of milk chocolate and roast. Not complicated, but certainly comes with the raspberries as advertised. Flavour isn't quite as interesting, though there is a pureed raspberry flavour in the backend, a bit of cocoa, milk chocolate. It's not really too bitter, but there is a bit of an earthy bitterness that tries to balance out the raspberry. Mouthfeel is on the thinner side, carbonation is about right, but a bit thin and not a lot of depth. It's alright, decent raspberry flavour with a thin base stout.
