Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass

L: Semi-opaque medium golden pour. 1.5 fingers of white head. Sparse lacing.

S: Yeast and bread... some spice and citrus notes. Lemony.

T/F: Somewhat citrusy lemon and malt sweetness to open. Not as spicy as I'd expect from a Hef... citrus and lemonade are the strongest flavors. Minimal hop bitterness at the finish to clean things up a bit but no strong hop flavors. The yeast flavor is fairly subdued.

O: Refreshing enough... pretty generic beer that drinks almost like a lemon shandy. I don't hate it. I wouldn't buy one again. Glad it was only part of a mix'a'6.

Looks nice, cloudy. Yea this is a wheat scented beer. Honestly if I had to pick a wheat beer scent, this is exactly it, meh. Wheat beer on the flavor with some lemon tones. Same on the finish, not much depth but decent anyway. Quite carbonated(burp) which helps this beer, crisp. Decent for a wheat.

Slightly cloudy honey golden colored pour with a soapy white head and lots of streaming bubbles. The pour was clear until I swirled the sediment from the bottom of the bottle and poured that out. Beer became hazy after that. Looking into the bottle and saw still more sediment on the bottom of the bottle.

Smells of sweet citrus and bread with some spice notes in the background.

Taste is lightly tart citrus with a bit of a mid tongue pepper hint.

Mouth feel was bordering on medium bodied with a wet and refreshing finish to it.

Strange that here it is labeled an American pale wheat ale and on the bottle it says it is a hefeweizen. This does bring to mind Pyramid's version of their hefeweizen. I really find this to be a refreshing and tasty beer. Cheers!

Sampled back on New years Eve 12/31/15. Comes in a 12-ounce bottle. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured in to a "BUD LIGHT-OMAHA" pint glass.

Brew pours a hazy golden-yellow in color with a thin white head with not much lacing really to speak of. Aroma is of sweet cornbread with some wheat malts. Bit more going on with the taste as there is some lemon-grass also with a hint of some light spice. Pretty smooth overall with a slight bitterness for the finish, but wasn't bad. Lighter-side of medium-bodied with good carbonation.

Had a glass of this on tap with some wings. Appeared to be a hefeweizen, and I didn’t note the lemongrass, (not like in the Fleur de Lehigh) although that expalins why it didn’t taste like a true weizen. Still a good beer, but it might help to know what you’re drinking first....

This is a solid session beer due to its low ABV and good taste. A Hefeweizen? I think not. This reminds me more of a lighter wheat beer with a hint of lemon pepper on the finish.

Undated bottle into pint glass. Pours a pale straw color with a thin, short-lived white head. Kind of thin, with an odd lemon-malt taste. Probably OK as a refreshing summer beer if there's nothing else at hand, but it's totally lacking in character.

I had this year's ago but the store was out of beers I haven't tried and I hadn't rated on this one yet so I grabbed it. Usually Magic Hat is too sweet for me so I slow poured this into a taste activation glass. Yellow color with decent carbonation and no head. Taste isn't bad but compared to other Hefeweizens, it tastes watered down and has a low ABV as well.

Love this beer. Its one of my summer favorites. Has an oddly cloudy appearance in the glass. Smell is of sweet corn and wheaty bread. Extremely balanced taste throughout the bottle. Taste was smooth and of slightly sweet cornbread. Mouthfeel is tremendously smooth with a little bite at the finish. Definitely recommended.

A: Cloudy pale yellow to orange, good fluffy white head, dissipates fast, little to no lacing

S: Mostly wheat malts, little yeast earthiness

T: Sweetness from the malts, earthiness with maybe a little bit of spice, little hop bitterness at the end

M: Plenty of carbonation, light to medium feel, very drinkable

O: Average beer, not much more. I like it but not overly impressed with it. Its good to have once but not gonna seek it out again.

Not a bad beer. I tend to really like Hefeweizens, but this doesn't strike me as a great hefe or even as something that could really be called a hefe at all. Drink something else if that's what you're looking for specifically, but Magic Hat tends to do silly things a lot and I think their beer has kind of fallen off in the last few years as a result.

A summer classic. Circus Boy pours a light golden color with a very fizzy head. The smell was mostly wheat with a little bit of citrus on the nose. I found the taste to be the exact opposite with a lot of lemon grass and orange flavors while not that much wheat. It was a little thin but for the summer I was pretty content with one. Overall it didn't blow me away or anything, but not a bad beer by any means either.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a weizen glass.

The color a cloudy gold/yellow and of course is unfiltered since it is a Hefeweizen. The head is white and is less than a finger thick and leaves no lacing on the glass.

The smell is lemon peel with a yeast aroma that carries a slight bready aroma there toward the back.

The taste has more of that lemony twang that seems to mix well with the yeast that is prominent here as well. The lemon begins to taste a little sour toward the back with the ever so light bitterness that comes toward the end.

The feel of this beer is crisp with a really light drinkable feel. This beer goes down easy and is low in ABV and makes for a good session beer.

Poured into a shaker pint glass.

Look: A hazy golden, almost orange-tinted body. A white head recedes quickly to a few patches of wisp. No lacing.

Aroma: Mold malt sweetness, faint orange citrus.

Taste: Begins with a malty backbone, with citrus and tanginess around it. Pretty bright finish, really tart.

Mouthfeel: Really bright and carbonated.

Overall: I liked this at the beginning but the longer I sipped on it the more harsh it became.

pours out a hazed gold colour with the addition of the dregs. little head with poor retention. the addition of lemongrass accentuates the overall already lemony aroma. definitely fruity. the taste is more of the same. while not a true hefe, there are some shared characteristics. underneath the lemony facade there is bits and pieces of hay and grass with some slight spicy notes. american pale wheat for sure, with a noticeable back end bitterness. this is a unique tasting beer. medium bodied with a coarse mouthfeel. drinkability is nice. would be really awesome to quench a thirst in the summertime.

overall, this is a twist on the american wheat style that leans heavily on the lemon quenching aspects. i picked this up on clearance for a really low price, and had it been summer, i would have bought multiple cases.

Magic Hat Circus Boy Hefeweizen (2013) - 4.5% ABV. Hazy unfiltered deep golden body. No head on pour. Decent lacing. Poor retention. Fairly active carbonation. Citrus, hay, and passion fruit aromas waft over maple syrup. Thick body. Very bright Orangina like nose. A little bread. Some bananas and apricots mid-palate. Hint of lager hops and barley back palate. Crisp but wet in mouthfeel. A little banana bread, gum, and slight hop note in the aftertaste. Very drinkable. Would go well on a hot day. Not overly complex. A fairly straight forward low citrus Hefenweizen. 3.5 out of 5. Good.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Golden in color, not hazy at all like most Wheat Ales( or other in that family)

Smell: Strong smell of cloves and grassy notes, some citrus.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth, light bodied. Taste strong of cloves and bananas. Some grassy taste as well.

Overall: Pretty good, I would drink this one again.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

A: Pours a hazy golden color. It's actually pretty damn clear until the yeast is poured in - and even after, it's still not that cloudy. The head isn't anything to write home about, either. It isn't even a finger high, has an off-white color, and very poor retention.

S: Smells like a generic wheat ale. The ester notes are very muted...and even worse, seem off somehow. Wheat malt is the most prevalent note I pick up, along with a twinge of candied sugar.

T: There's lots of wheat to start, along with a slight spiciness. And then after that...nothing. The finish is empty in flavor. I guess it isn't bad, but that's only because it's so devoid of character.

M: Well, if I have to pick something I like about this one, then I'll say I enjoy how soft it feels. It's a pretty sweet brew, as well, lacking the vibrant carbonation of some examples.

O: BOOO-RING. The simple fact that it's just really dull instantly makes it better than the abomination that was Seance, at least. In a way, I hate these boring beers simply because they create dull reviews...just like this one.

Poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: Yellow and cloudy. Pours a thin head that dissipates quickly.

Smell: Light smell with a hint of wheat, citrus like smell.

Taste: Matches the smell, very light, wheaty and a hint of citrus.

Mouthfeel: Smooth and very light. Little carbonation.

Overall: One of Magic Hat's best. Light beer with a hint of wheat and citrus. Almost like lemonade. I would purchase again.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a hazed lightly tinted orange-amber color with a small one finger fizzy white head. The head fades quite quickly leaving a patchy film on the top of the brew and very little lacing on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma is super light overall with just a little bit of a wheaty smell and a small amount of yeast and grass.

Taste – The taste begins wheaty and bready with a light hint of yeast. It has a moderate sweetness upfront with some flavors of lemonade. As the flavor advances the sweet begins fading with the lemonade turning a bit more sour, taking on a more tart lemon flavor. Flavors of a grassy nature come to the tongue at the end leaving a rather pleasant, semi sweet, wheaty taste on the tongue.

Mouthfeel –The body of the beer is very light with a carbonation level that is on the higher side. Both are rather nice for the somewhat sweeter hefe flavors of the brew and make it quite easy to drink.

Overall – Not a flavor powerhouse, but rather easy drinking. A decent brew overall.

I've never really had a bad wheat beer, but not really many that are great either. This beer is a little light, and the wheat flavor is subtle, there is also a bit of tange ib there. Definitely drinkable and as impressive as most other beers of its kind, but not more so.

This is a somewhat unique hefeweizen that has a low abv which lets you get at it all afternoon without having to slow down. There's an interesting smoky/malt flavor that I'm noted to getting up of similar beers, that doesn't sound good, but surprisingly was. Bit of citrus as well as you MIT expect. Not my favorite, but if you want to try something different, it's not a bad idea.

Picked up a few circus boys because I feel like even though its not great relative to other brews it's a must have at least once on a warm summer day. Nice medium carbonation with low ABV you can drink a 6 pack with ease and it goes down smooth. Limited twang or hops to it and mostly a light biscuit flavor with sour lemon lingering in the front and back of the mouth.

A- Cloudy golden body with an orange tint to it. Thin white head that leaves no lacing at all. Some light shines through, but the unfiltered body leaves no visibility.

S- Sweet malt, some wheat, sweet corn, light citrus, fresh grass.

T- A little more wheat comes through in the flavor than it does in the aroma. Still getting a lot of sweet malt. Grassy, citrusy flavors come through towards the end for a nice finish.

M- Rather light bodied with medium carbonation. Good for a drinkable summer beer.

O- Pretty good beer that would be a good candidate for a can. Drinkable, but not huge on flavor.

S- Citrusy, a bit skunky.

T- Large hints of lemon and orange peel. Ever so slightly bitter, which I really like about this. Extremely drinkable.

M- Lightly carbonated, refreshing, and clean. Overall very pleasant.

O- I really enjoyed this Circus Boy brew. Very refreshing on a warm spring day. Very drinkable.
