A toast to weeds, rays, and summer haze. It was a light, crisp ale for mowing lawns, hitting lazy fly balls and communing with nature, Hocus Pocus was offered up as a summer sacrifice to cloudless days. Its malty sweetness finished tart and crisp and was best appreciated with a wedge of orange.

Poured into a flared tulip glass from a 12oz brown long neck bottle with a twist-off cap.
Slightly hazy, golden color.White creamy head dissapating quickly into a sudsy, dishwater looking coating. Looked a bit on the flat side with some spotty lacing.
Very perfumy and piney aromas with a phenolic, very funky i would guess yeast aroma. Odd aroma like a hair perm solution.
Clean tastes kind of weak tastes, some peach-like taste, some mild citrus, finishes very clean with slightly tart flavors and fruitiness. The taste was very different from the aroma. No off tastes at all like i would suspect,it was surpizingly pleasing.
Very smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Not a great first impression the beer seemed to get better with each taste. Would like to try again. Easy drinking and refreshing in the end.

A- huge 5 finger head goes overboard. light gold body that is clear and foamy head with lacing.
S- grass and wheat hops with tart malt.
F- lager-esque type of taste. wheat and lemon but very faint and malty.
F- tastes like a lager and not a wheat. light bodied and smooth though.
O- goes down easy but the flavor isn't what i was expecting.

Another decent offering from Magic Hat...
A very clear wheat beer with a white frothy head and good lacing down the glass. I noted some citrus and a distinct hop character both by nose and by taste, with the taste a bit more tangy than hoppy. Mouthfeel was mostly carbonated with a medium-body and an astringent quality that I at times like and at times don't - this time I was 'meh' about it. As I mentioned in my opening - it's a decent offering and I my take them up on that orange slice on the next one.

bmeehan said it best, "Hocus Pocus isn't really outstanding, but it's not offensive either. It's worth drinking. Or maybe it isn't. Do whatever you want with it, I'm not your dad." It's a wheat with a little zing.

Taste Rating in Words: it's a beautiful umbrella. Larger but still an umbrella.

DATE: May 17, 2017... OCCASION: inspired by the school band's spring performance and the early spring heat, time to add some wheat to the evening of Celts/Cavs Game 1... pours an active, bubbling golden body with a thick white head that clumps and clusters resiliently... lacing is appreciable... honey, wheat yeast, hints of lemon, and buttery biscuit malts that tug at the senses in its variety--earthy, slightly too malty... oily, light-bodied and easily drinkable... maybe it'd be better on a lawnmower, as suggested... lemon, hay, some biscuit, a hint of the honey, lime (?) and apple make for a fruity, malty flavor profile... fitting for the evening heat, but not the kind of beer I'd reach for when quenching a thirst... many other weisses, wheat, weizens and pilsners to enjoy...it's back, but it's not necessarily needed...
