Blind Faith is one of the very first IPA's I ever had. It would've been around 2001. Seventeen years ago. I find it hard to believe I have not reviewed this yet....seventeen years later, I finally have.

A totally clear, amber with some golden highlights. A strong, sea-foamy, clumpy of white froth hold on tight. Excellent lacing.

The aroma has some very sweet , buttery and bready maltt flavor's to it, rootbeer, maple syrup and dark bread. The hops give off this sweet and fruity thing with earthy herbs and dry leaves.English style nose all the way.

The balance of flavor's is spot-on English ipa style. The malty taste is pretty nice, with an herbal, dark bread and honey effect. Herbal and earth tones from the hops become slightly fruity and another layer of medicinal style herbs roll in later. This is a very malty ipa, and the hops are actually very subtle in effect. The hops could be a bit more earthy and spicy like some of the more classic and traditional versions of the English IPA.

The mouthfeel and body comes across a bit lifeless, the malt seems to be a bit long and flat. The malty flavor is very good, but seems to weigh the liquid down. The hops do not provide enough punch to become bitter or dry....leaving the feel medium but rather flat.

Overall, this one really made an awesome impact on me seventeen years ago. Pushing the limits of what I thought beer could be. Today, some aspects, like tge malt flavor still holds up, but my tastebuds have matured and the quality of ipa has really entered new levels since this first impressed me so much all those years ago.

L: copper amber with a slight haze under a 1" sudsy off-white cap with fair retention

S: citrus, tropical fruit, berry, peach skin, papaya, biscuit, light grains and a trace of sweat socks

T: flavors start mildly sweet with mostly fruit up front supported by a firm malt backbone and lead to a drying, mildly bitter slightly astringent finish

F: The body is medium to medium full and the carbonation is medium high.

O: a very flavorful, fruity, malty and appropriately bitter English IPA.

Dark golden beer with a quickly dissipating head and an opaque look. Grassy and citrus mix on the nose sitting on a slight caramel malt base. Slightly citric with a malt center. Not very bitter but this beer has a very watery and slick feel and high carbonation. I'm not in love with this beer.

Citrus and pine up front with a bitterness that is throughout and really powers through at the end, followed by a malty smoothness.

Taste Rating in Words: It's running down a zig-zagging hallway that has a door at the end and you don't slow down and just kick the door in to finish the journey off.

A-murky amber color with a one finger frothy head. Lacing is sticky and covers inside of the pint.

S- citrus hops with caramel malt hints on the back end

F- Lemon/grapefruit citrus hops. There are earthy/caramel malt hints as well

M- citrus and IPAish which is good but it lacks the meat i am looking for.

O- its ok but i was hoping for more of the hop to come through and didnt.

Medium gold colored beer that has a rapidly fading head. Light fruit and hops is most of what you get from this beer. I'm not a fan of hoppy beers but the hops are not overpowering. Overall to me a decent beer.

Most of the Magic Hats I've had were pretty much run-of-the-mill, this however, was much better than that...

The liquid from the 12 oz. bottle pours a dark, golden color with very nice orange and yellow highlights. There's not much of a head to mention or lacing, but it sure does look appealing in the pint glass. The smell was a sweet assail of fruit with a light hop tingle and I'll reverse this description for the taste - a distinct hop character with a light sweet finish. The mouthfeel was somewhere between light- to medium-bodied with a very crisp aspect. This might be the best MH I've had, if not, it probably rates high on my list.
