Pours a clear copper, leaves a fizzy half inch white head that dissipates quickly.

The aroma is comprised mostly of floral hops, and some slight fruity notes.

The flavor is mostly average, slightly sweet to start with a cream or toffee aspect, quickly melds into a brown bread malt character with a fairly satisfying bitter. It's not bad, but doesn't stand out in any way.

Medium bodied and is a bit chewy, alcohol is well hidden but shows up well towards the end in a small way.

A decent ale, with a pretty pleasing malt character.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 4/14/2015. Pours fairly crystal clear deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, light pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity citrus/earthy hops, dark/bready malt, and light-moderate fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, light pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of herbal/piney bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon/orange zest, pear, apple, light pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, balance, and robustness of citrus/earthy hops, dark/bready malt, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very good English IPA style. All around good complexity robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops, dark/bready malt, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

I love IPAs that do not have the need to hit you in the head with a baseball bat made out of hops. Then again, I do enjoy some IPAs but prefer hefeweizens, stouts and pils. Overall, if you like a heavy hop taste as IPAs should, you may be disappointed, but if you aren't a hoppy snob, it is well balanced and tastes great.

Beautiful amber color with a thick white head initially that thins out. Holds nice levels of soapy lacing on the glass as you drink it. Unique nose with citrus aromas and slight bitterness. Nice tasting beer, however I would almost classify as a pale ale instead of an IPA. One of the offerings in Magic Hat's Summer 12 pack.
