The beer poured into the glass crystal clear amber golden with an off-white low and fairly persistent head.
The aroma was citrusy and piney with just a bit of cat piss in there so Amarillo must be close by. Some malt presence was notable behind the floral and fragrant hop character.
The flavor was much less inviting than the aroma. The first notable flavor was of all things, chocolate. The beer had a resinous character and a bit of a piney and grassy presence, but was devoid of any real malt presence. What was there was only a low bit of caramel and the odd bit of chocolate.
The finish was dry with a lightly piney and resiny character into the aftertaste. The body was medium with a moderate level of carbonation. An ok beer, could use a boost in complexity and malt however.
12 ounce bottle.

Bottle from the Lazy Dog
Pours a deep amber color bordering on copper with a decent sized bubbly off white head. Big caramel and toffee on the nose with some earthy hops to counter. Rich caramel maltiness with a hint of toffee flavor. Earthy hop flavor with a moderate level of bitterness. Not sure why I picked this up, but I am pleasantly surprised. Its not too bad for an amber ale, Roxy Rolles rides again?
