Notes / Commercial Description:
Lucky Kat purrs as he pours with a grin on his mangy face and a grin in his searching eye. He sits on the fence he calls home, dividing up from down. Is he an imperial beast or a pale soul from the east? Only he knows and we know only this: if you reach out to pet him he'll bite back with a big, hoppy kiss.

4 magic hat ipa’s side by side. 1 Electric Peel, 2 Encore (odd notion, wheat), 3 Lucky Kat, 4 HIPA. Flatened quickly. Tastes a bit watery compared to others. Faint ash in aftertaste drops this a bit. Not great."

Smooth IPA. Good for that person that doesn't like it too hoppy! Great starter IPA!

12oz bottle from their ipa variety pack. No date. Poured into my Monday Night Brewery pint glass. Transparent copper amber color thay leaves decent lacing. Smell is not very strong but some pine and malt. Feel is medium carbonation and sticky. Taste is bitter citrus and balances with some malts. Haha I'm not good at describing beers that don't have much going on. Not a bad beer though.

12oz bottle poured into pint glass. One of the offerings in the Magic Hat IPA sampler pack. Pours an amber color that is initially hazy but clears up quickly. Slight head. Lacing is a bit lacking in its resilience. Sweet accent in the scent. Light bodied feel. The malt backbone stands up and compliments the hop bitterness from beginning to end, but only the bitterness sticks around in the aftertaste. Not a disappointing IPA, but also not unique, memorable or a standout. (8.0)

12 oz. bottle, no bottled on date present. A new one to me from Magic Hat, acquired as part of the variety IPA pack.

Poured into a clear balloon snifter.

A - It pours a penny copper body with good clarity. Less than a finger of frothy white head that dies out quick. Some modest fat scattered lacing. Looks okay.

S - The aroma is what I have come to expect from Magic Hat - lightly fumey, floral, & somewhat piney. Not the typical fresh fruity floral hop aromas that I am accustomed to finding in an IPA.

T - The taste follows the nose: fumey, grapey, some generic bready malt. Nothing much in the way of hops - no pine, no grapefruit, no resin. Only very lightly fruity flavors in the form of vague indistinct berries.

M - The feel is crisp & clean. Easy-drinking, light-bodied, and with good carb. Probably the best thing about this one is it's drinkability.

Overall, a very boring and generic IPA from Magic Hat. More of a plain old boring pale ale without much going on. Not recommended, and I wouldn't have it unless as part of the mixed variety pack.

Magic Hat Lucky Kat -----3/5.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle to pint glass.

A: Clear copper with small head. Ample big-bubble carbonation.
S: Sweet bread, orange, sourness.
T: Standard cereal grain front. A little non-descript bitterness in the middle. Ends with a little sour note.
M: Thin.
O: Exceptionally ordinary. I would have hoped for better.
