Pours a clear copper color with a thin head and minimal lacing. The aroma is caramel and sweet malt. The flavor is caramel with bread crust and sweet malt. A bit sweeter than most fall rews. It's mouthfeel is light. Magic Hat Hex is a decent beer, recommended.

[Suggested Glassware]

The pour was a clear copper brown with an average (1-2 finger) off white rocky head that reduced down to just a small collar, which produced some fair spotty lacing.

The aroma was of a stale bread malt and an earthy yeast with notes of caramel, toffee, maple syrup and a hint of smoke.

The taste was malty and lightly sweet with a hint of caramel early on, with the finish having a slightly harsh hop bite, a light toffee sweetness and a mild smoke presence. The flavor lasted a decent amount of time following the swallow, with a mild smoky malt flavor left behind.

Mouthfeel was just beyond light in body and somewhat watery in texture with a prickly carbonation.

Overall a decent enough tasting Oktoberfest, which had a nice malty-sweet smoky flavor...

A- Pours a wonderful amber color with a lacy head to it that goes down to a light coating over the top.

S- Noble hops and some sweetness.

T- Smokey and sweet. There is a little bitterness in there that balances well with the sweetness.

M- Light and nice carbonation.

O- Pretty good beer. I'm more of a ale than lagers kind of guy, but tis' the season for oktober fest beers. It's a good beer to have to mix up things when so many stouts are being released right now.

12oz bottle poured into pint glass

A- Golden brown and clear. Foams up nicely but leaves quickly dissolving into a white rim around the glass.

S- Caramel and spicy notes, subtle hops in nose.

T- Malty up front with tons of caramel sweetness. Nice touch of hoppy bitterness and Smokey rye to finish off the deal.

M- Creamy body that’s deliciously smooth. Very good carbonation and coats the palate nicely.

O- My first Magic Hat offering and I am very impressed. Out of all the Oktoberfests I have had thus far I enjoyed this one the most. Would definitely purchase again and am looking for their other offerings. Any suggestions?

Poured with a thick yet bubbly three finger head that disappeared very quickly. The scent is quite strong and sweet with a typical German oatiness. Almost smell ginger for a nice Fall scent. The taste is where is don't follow as it is a bit weak with a sweet yet bland finish. The label says it has a " distinctly rich and flavorful" taste but I say it has neither. There is no richness and it seems sweet and lacking.
