-Ale brewed with figs and dates. Chalice.

A: Soft root beer-cola sits a darker nature in the vessel with a minimal head. A whispy sandy-khaki head is thin and quickly lapsing.

S: Sweet figs and caramelized raisins. Syrup rich cola and some sweet root beer aroma. Dates, sweet dark fruit, and sweet caramelized chocolate of moderate strength.

T: The flavor was sweet chocolate and dark fruit. Caramelized malt, sweet raisin, dates and sugary figs. Some brown sugar, sweet cola add to the mix.

M: Thick and syrupy mouthful, spicy deep lush malts with some cola highlights on the tongue.

O: Good first impression, very sweet malt base, filled with sugary figs, raisins, and cola. Good strength overall, very good malt depth, decent range of flavors, very sweet and malty. Not usually a fan of this brewery, but they go big here and it pays off. Loads of sweet dark fruit.

Ruby color with a ring of off white head which lingered the entire glass. Dark fruit notes in the nose and in the flavor. The flavor was not very complex and the feel was light on the carbonation I expect from a quad. Drinkable but not a lot going on here.

Eh. It's not real good. It's not bad. It's pretty mediocre. Drinkable, but not all that flavorful. The carbonation is okay, but missing that "champagne zing" of some of the best Belgians. Color is nice, clear, dark amber. Not a huge head. Smell is relatively mild and inoffensive.

Poured into a chalice, the appearance was a mostly dark red close to brown color with a thin quickly dissipating cap of a white fizzy head. Slightly forms valleys here and there in what’s left of the head. The aroma has some dates, figs, plums, Belgian sugars, brown sugars, subtle milk chocolate, light bready notes and caramel malts. Subtle spices of coriander and sage. The flavor leads with semi-sweet with an embracing sticky malt bill of the previously mentioned sweet aromas. Quick crisp toasty to caramel malt aftertaste with finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a decent sessionable feel about it. Carbonation felt fine as it is. A bit smoother than expected for a so called-quad. Overall, Belgian dark strong ale is what I would classify this as.

22oz. bottle: This one pours a murky brown color. There was a thin tan head that didn’t last long. The aroma is good, but a little light for a quad. Notes of figs and other dark fruits. Lots of malts, but not much sweetness and no alcohol to the nose. The taste is good. Malty, some breadiness and yeastiness, dark fruits. Some sweetness. Tasty, but not quite as flavorful as some other quads.

Nice belgium beer. Big dark fruity smell. Taste like a sweet quad. With dark fruits coming out. Also a nice warming at the back of the mouth. This would make a great winter warmer.

From the 650 ml. bottle. Sampled on October 3, 2016.

It has an attractive looking amber pour with red hues throughout under a small, short-lasting head.

The aroma is vibrant with Belgian sweet dark malts, figs, dates, and other dark fruits without an alcohol note.

Medium to bold body.

A dark roasted malt sweetness in the taste as well as dark fruits and a warming sensation all around.
