Purchased on tap at Spanky's 2 miles from the brewery. The IPA poured a rather deep orange to amber color and gave about an inch of an off white head with nice retention throughout the pint. The beer laced the glass through to the last sip.

As one could only hope for from an IPA, Cape Cod Beer's IPA provided a very sharp hop taste that had a rather bold citrus aroma and piney hop taste featured. The hoppy nature of this beer is exactly what it should be and it seems as though the beer, while not as in your face in terms of hops as some other brewery's IPA's, fits this offering quite well.

There is a symbiotic balance to the IPA with the hop consistency matched well to a nice deep malt undertone that ultimately leads to a somewhat bitter finish. A very good example of the style.

Three growlers purchased - two from Windmill in Orleans, one from Luke's in Dennisport. Is there a difference? Read on. Grading based on the two known fresh growlers from Windmill.

The ones from Windmill: Bight dark amber with a white head that lasts. Slightly dark for an IPA, but that don't matter none. Aroma of sharp citrus/pine hops and toasty caramelly malt. Simply outstanding flavor - great sharp hop bite right from the start, similar to that from Lake Placid Frostbite where it grabs the tongue and hangs on for dear life, followed by a round, toasty slightly caramel/toffee maltiness that fights the hops but doesn't win. Finishes with a lingering bitter-and-malt flavor that screams for more. Appropriately chewy mouthfeel. Could drink this all day. Hell, I *did* drink it all day!

The one from Luke's: As above, but with a lingering, slightly brown sugary flavor that tasted slightly off. Old? Odd batch? Luke's homebrew substituted? You got me.

I know that the growlers at Windmill were fresh - they weren't there Saturday but were there Monday. I have NO idea how long they were around at Luke's - it was a smaller store with limited selection, so who knows?

My advice? Go to Orleans, get a growler at Windmill, head to Nauset Beach, get some clams at Liam's, and sneak the beer onto the beach and enjoy some of the finest that the Cape has to offer.

Solid and clear copper color with a thin sticky lace, slight hop aroma with some malt and fruity alcohol. Mild buttery and very hoppy palate within the medium body, buttery flavor lingers for a good while as the hops hold true to the bitterness. Some malt comes though in the semi-sweet finish.

My first visit to Cape Cod in Hyannis, MA...well worth the trip.
Not only is Todd on heck of a nice guy, but the man puts out some real quality brews...couldn't decide which to bring home in a growler. Finally decided on his IPA.
Pours a colorful copper w/ a full finger of off-white head that disappears fairly quickly...lacing is very thin, but that could be due to my glass coming out of the dishwasher...shame on me.
(Edit: handwashed the glass on my next fill = much more cling on the side of the glass.)
Nice aromas filled w/ sweet malt, spice, and of course hops...a hint of cherries hit the nose as well.
The taste is citrus hops w/ a hefty malt fine, well balanced IPA.
It's mouthfeel is fantastic...not thin and not syrupy. Finishes w/ a bitter smack that complements its carbonation...drawing me back in for more.
Drinkability is through the roof...very fresh and clean.
I'd recommend you visit easy drive down Rte. 3 from the South Shore. They fill growlers Saturday from 10am-noon and they must have filled at least 15 growlers in the short time I was there. Support your local won't be disappointed.

Appearance: huge head, dark gold, clear

Smell: citrus and hops

Taste:some malts, hops, and bready grains

Mouthfeel: There is a malty sweetness in the first sip that quickly gets bitter, smooth, light bodied, with low carbonation

Drinkability: This is a slightly above average IPA with a really bitter kick. I could not taste the alcohol in it. Not a bad beer, but nothing that jumps out either.

Purchased a growler while on vacation at Cape Cod. Poured beer into a pint glass

A - Dark brownish red color to the beer which creates a very thick 2 finger cake batter colored head. The foam dissolves over time leaving a thin lacing around my glass.

S - Hints of pine hops, sweet malty caramel and fresh baked bread. There is also an earthy grassy tone to this beer.

T - Caramel sweet malt and a moderate pine hopped flavor that offers some measure of bitterness but to be hones I thought that the malt profile was stronger in this beer. The finish is bitter and dry which is nice.

M - Moderate body and carbonation to this beer with a dry bitter finish.

D - Very drinkable beer but I was underwhelmed by the hop profile. I have heard that this is an excellent IPA but it just was not there for me that particular day. I will gladly try this one again.

1st time there as we are traveling. To be fair I only had their 5 out of 6 samplers. So I only had about 4 oz. to give a review for all of my samples. I gave it 3 1/2 on my personal rating of 1-5. Decent IPA

Pours a clear but slightly dark reddish amber color. A foamy head slowly dissipates to leave a ring of foam around the the edge of the glass. Initial hops flavor is immidiate and pleasantly strong. Hops dominate the flavor profile, but malt comes through in the finish and aftertaste. The beer has a medium body with an almost oily texture.

This beer is an oasis in the beer desert that is Cape Cod. If you're a hophead like me, it's one of those beers that you just can't stop drinking.
