From the 2017 can. Sampled well after winter on May 27, 2017.

It pours dark brown with a foamy, tan head that lingers and laces.

The aroma has a pungent and rich dark malt and dark bread character along with licorice, sweetness, cellar, and a low to no hop profile.

The body is medium to full but maybe a little astringent.

The taste has a definite malt sweetness with that same licorice character and a mild to moderate earthy bitterness that lasts for a short time.

Thanks to Greg for this obscure tick. Served in a snifter.

A - Dark tan foam settles to a collar, wisps, and minimal lacework. Transparent ruby-amber body.

S - Loads of toasted malts, with notes of treacle, bread, fruity ale yeast, and earthy English flavors. Is there oak in this? There's a very intense toastiness to this that I attributed to wood, but I can't find any listed in the description.

T - The taste is quite similar; extremely toasty, with notes of bread, fruity yeast, some faint toffee and more of that nebulous wood character. No alcohol, but seems a bit less complex than the summer version.

M - Medium body, low carbonation, quite dry, with no alcohol presence. Sufficient heft for 7%.

D - Drinkable, but not really what I like from this style; lacks the darker and sweeter flavors I enjoyed from "Christmas in July". That being said, I think some of the 'oak' character I picked up in that beer was probably just the heavily toasty malt, as that flavor dominates here.
