It pours a typical clear straw yellow with a fairly thick and not too persistent white head. Aroma is malty and a little yeasty, fairly strong and better than that of most pilsners I have sampled. Flavor is crisp, malty, mouth-filling, just a tiny bit fruity, quite satisfying. Texture is lively, fizzy and pleasing.

Meister Pils pours with vast amounts of bright white head, and has a light golden colored body.

Aroma is arid with lemon juice and fresh mown hay.

Taste is sweet up front with a cereal like quality, but finishes with a lemony bitterness.

This brew is quite enjoyable and refreshing. It's about as good of a German Pilsner as one can get.

A totally adequate pils lacking in any real character.

Pours rather nicely, clear and gold with nice head, although retention and lacing were a bit poorer, pils are not exactly overwhelming in this regard to begin with.

Aroma is distinctly lacking, just a hint of pale malt.

A bit sweet on the palate, but a clean finish (experience this with their schwarzbier as well) keeps it from getting annoying. Grain is a bit too evident, but carbonation is sparkling and fine. This could use a bit of spicy hops at the back end, or a drop in the sweetness.

Could session, but the flat flavor and sweetness would get old eventually.

Appearance:
The beer pours crystal clear and straw in color. There is a good sticky white head to the beer which displays some decent staying power and spotty lacing.

Smell:
The beer smells like soap and old hops, dangerously reminiscent of the scent of PBR.

Taste and Mouthfeel:
There isn't a whole lot going on here aside from some minor up front malt sweetness. The beer drinks light, bland, and watery with only a hint of hops in the meagerly bitter finish. Nothing fresh and noble like I would expect from a solid German Pilsener.

Drinkability:
It's just as drinkable as any American macro lager in my opinion. Nothing special flavor wise here, just a beer made for drinking.

Bottom Line:
This beer is bottom of the barrel pilsener without quite getting in to the realm of corn and rice. I would pass on this one.

A: Bright yellow color. Dense head of white foam bubbles off and leaves a thin layer of bubbles over the surface of the beer. Stray lacing.

S: German malty-hop blend. Some veggie notes. Rather mild overall, but well recieved.

T: Medium to medium light bodied. Carbonation accents the grains and rich malt. Hops are floral and light. Nice.

M: Slightly thin, and kind of watery. The bubbles do well on the palate but don't make up for the lack of substance.

D: Pretty good. Could be a sessioner.

Notes: Thanks to piecesofflair for the sample. For the price, you can't go wrong.

This German pils looks a lot like your typical American macro lager, very very light yellow, small bubbly head, lots of bubbles.

Aroma is very mild, faint hops and a lemon-y scent, not at all assertive or enticing.

Flavor is natural, fresh, crisp and a tad bitter. The malt/hops balance is well done, though the flavors are subdued. There's an unpleasant corn taste at the front of the sip. The mouthfeel is highly-carbonated with a bit of a sharpness, as a pilsner should be.

It's a good thing this doesn't have that headache-y, chemical, metallic taste many U.S. macros of this type have, because otherwise it's pretty much inseparable from those. Just a step above the crappy stuff, but no huge offending traits...just a bit blah.

An exellent offering, and a beer with a future in my beer fridge.
This is a very clear light golden pilsner starting with a full finger crown, decending to a full lace with mountainous glass cling.
The nose is ripe of floral hops as well as a malty minor.
The body is a medium as is the carbonation.
The taste is very appealing, starting with the clean taste and crispness of the floral hops and the addition of a corn like quality to balance.
A very smooth beer going down.

Odenwalder Meister Pilsner pours a clear bright golden amber from a dark brown glass bottle with a pry off cap. Head went to well over three fingers before disappating away to a well defined ring with minimal lace.

Nose is a pleasant light floral hops with whiffs of barley malt and hints of alcohol. The palate is a full and complex, with the floral hops taking center stage at first. Next to appear on the palate, the light floral hops with a bittering effect, and finally, the bight of carbonation closes the curtain.

Odenwalder Meister Pilsner is offered by Aldi, go for it, I did, and I liked it too!

Clear, pale gold in hue; sadly the liquid looks a bit sickly. On the plus side though, there is a steady stream of animation racing towards the bright white head. At the apex the foam was some three-fingers in height, most impressive! Head retention was awesome, a full cap lasted the entire consumption. The subsequent lacing was sticky and unorganized, only a few clumpy rings formed. Still, on the whole, this beer does look good but the appearance would be greatly improved if there was even the slightest highlight to the color of the beer… regardless it looks agreeable in my pilsner glass.

The nose has fairly strong potency, granted, it doesn’t say much. It is clean and crisp. It gets to the point quickly, sweet maltiness, grainy at times, biscuits. There are some lemon/citrusy notes, flowers, hay, and fruity honey. Well-rounded bouquet, it is very fitting for the style. I find the aromas to be pleasant. Textbook German Pils nose and thus it is inviting.

The palate is crisp at first and then it becomes sweet in the middle. This sweetness is malt based. Honey, biscuits, and caramel are the main players. There are hints of flowers and hay, some lingering lemon zest. At the finish is a bitter hop bite. It is a perfect conclusion. The aftertaste is long and a great mixture of everything tasted. I don’t really have any complaints about the palate; it is uncomplicated but very tasty. (Okay, I wish there was more hops… there I said it.) I’ve had better Pils but this one would work fine as a substitute. Yum.

Medium in body, the carbonation is firm and biting… as it should be. The mouthfeel is ideally strong; it fits this beer very well. Well-done!

This is very drinkable; there is no other way to say it. I could session with this beer. This would be a good crossover beer. I bet this would kick-ass with delicate fish! Plus it is damn cheap; it was part of a $10 sampler-pack from Aldi. Cheap or not, it is worth a try. Good stuff.

The beer poured into the glass crystal clear straw with a white and frothy head which rose tall and fell slowly to lace the glass.

The aroma was very slightly grassy through the moussy head. As the head fell the aroma picked up slightly, but still, not much was there.

The flavor was crisp and lightly bittered with a very light caramel and a clean very slightly grassy bittering that kept the beer on the dry side.

The finish was just dry with an increasing level of bittering the more the beer dried and the longer into the aftertaste one progressed. The body was medium light and the carbonation level was well done. The aroma and flavor could still use a bit more of a hop punch to make a nice pils but this one was easy to drink although a bit boring.

12 ounce bottle. Best by 07 14 06. Part of a mixed 12 pack for $10 at Aldi.

Picked this up at Aldi as part of a mixed 12 pack for $9.99. Use by 07/14/06 printed on the label. Pours a pale gold color with a thick, fluffy head. Good lacing. Aroma is clean and fresh with a nice balance between the pale malts and floral hops. Taste is also clean and fresh with a good hop bitterness in the background. Not too shabby.
