Pours an opaque dark brown, almost black, with a tall bubbly tan colored head. The head dissipates slowly to a thin 1/4 finger cap that covers the entire top of the beer and leaves an excellent lacing on the glass wherever it touches.

Smell is not strong at all but there is a bit of alcohol too it and a cola sweetness. Light roasted malt smell.

Taste is caramel and roasted malts, very slight alcohol warmth but nothing overwhelming and blends well with the other flavors of the beer. There is something else there that I can't put my finger on, will edit this review if I can figure it out. There is no bitterness at all here, just malty sweetness and deliciousness.

Very nice mouthfeel, medium body despite the color with perfect carbonation.

Giving this a 5 for drinkability, this beer goes down very easy despite the 7.7% ABV. Be careful with this one.

Obtained this bottle courtesy of mullenite, thanks again Josh. 12oz. brown long-neck with a bottling code that reads: 05 336 on the back label. It pours a dark, murky chestnut brown with a solid finger of tight beige foam. Good carbonation with some head retention and dabs of lace left clinging.

Sweet, spicy and fruity malt to the nose, with just a trace of alcohol as it warms. Notes of pear, plum and green apple and a clove like spice.

Sweet malty intro with lots of green apple and a spicy estery note of enamel. The malt is rich and pleasantly sweet and eventually winds down to a crisp, clean finish. Good flavor for the style.

Solid medium plus body with a smooth and creamish initial mouthfeel, slight warming and a clean finish and to the solidness of this Dopple.

Could see drinking Steins of this fresh in Germany being a real treat! Good stuff.

Had this at Fritz & Franz Bierhaus in Coral Gables (great german food and beer, btw).

Very little head and even less retention. Aroma is wonderful--maplely sweet that's reminiscient of Sam Adams triple bock, as well as some alcohol smell.

Flavor is wonderful as well. Caramel and a slight bit of coffee on the finish (surprised by that but a welcome one).

As this is the first time I've even seen this beer, my sense is it's not easy to find. Sooo, if you come across it, get it and give it a whirl!

Thanks to mullenite for adding this little gem into an already stellar line-up

A - This beer pours a reddish brown color that produced a small, fluffy tan head that had decent retention and laced the side of the glass nicely

S - The aromas produced by this beer had a tad bit of breadiness, a mixture of fruit, and a spicy herbal qualtiy

T - The taste of this beer was caramel malts, a sweet mixture of apples, pears, and dried plums, and some clove

M - The mouthfeel of this beer had a smooth, medium body with a light to moderate amount of carbonation

D - This was a very good beer, quite tasty and satisfying, thanks again mullenite
