12oz bottle poured into a pint glass

A- pours a hazy pale golden color with a small foamy white head that retains for a short time and settles into a thin film floating on top

S- grassy and piney hops, green vegetables, lettuce, spicy lager yeast, cracker malt

T- strong floral hop notes up front, followed by some green vegetables, spicy lager yeast, finishing with some citrus and piney hop notes, and a spicy linger

M- medium body with medium carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a crisp finish

O- an interesting combination, the balance and drinkability seemed a bit scattered, the cabbage/lettuce flavor just didn't do it for me

Bottle from Champane's Cellars. I was getting lettuce above all, a tad of other vegetable including cabbage. Still drinkable and lighter mouthfeel. More hops, or they just had an older bottle.

A - Pours a hazy gold with a two-finger foamy white head. The fades to a thin ring leaving lots of sticky lacing.

S - Aromas of piney hops, grapefruit peel, and tangerine.

T - The taste has a good amount of sweet malts upfront with tangerine, grapefruit, and mango. The piney hop really shine midpalate through the finish. The finish has a nice lingering bitterness.

M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with a dry finish.

O - A fine wet hopped IPA. The balance of flavors make this a very enjoyable offering from Short's.

Pours a light copper color with a lasting ring of head and leaves light lacing.

Smells like hops. Lots of hops. Bright citrus and peppery/spiciness that follows in the taste for sure. You get the clean lager finish at the end but overall its a spicyish citrus hopped lager. Picked up a couple bottles from the local store here, glad I did as its a very interesting take on a IPL

I picked up a six pack of Short's Devil's Lettuce last week at Boyne Country Provisions. I've been wanting to try this ever since I hear it was replacing Kind Ale this year, so lets see how it goes. 2015 Vintage. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a Shorts Imperial pint glass.

A- The label looks good, it's got a nice design to it and it's eye catching. It poured a darker golden color that took on more of orange color when held to the light with almost two fingers worth of creamy white head that died down to a thick chunky ring that stayed till the end and it left some nice patchy rings of lacing behind. This is a very nice looking beer, I have no complaints.

S- The aroma starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with the hops being the first to show up and they impart a complex mixture of green, dank, spicy, piney and fruity hops with the green spicy hops sticking out the most. Up next comes a clean lager yeast aroma with just a slight sweet malt and doughy aroma towards the end. This beer had a pretty nice aroma, but I wish the hop profile was a little more balanced.

T- The taste seems to be pretty similar to the aroma and it starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with the hops still being the first to show up and they impart the exact same aspects that they do in the aroma with those spicy green hops still sticking out the most. Up next comes that clean lager yeast that leads right into the malts which impart the same aspects, but they are just a little lighter this time. On the finish there's a low amount of high bitterness with a very hoppy aftertaste and lingering bitterness. This is a pretty nice tasting beer, but the green spicy hops are a little too dominating for me.

M- No the smoothest, crisp, fairly clean, on the lighter side of being medium bodied with a higher amount of medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is good, but I wish it was a little smoother.

Overall I thought this was a pretty nice beer beer and a nice example of a fresh hopped lager, but in the end I just wish the complex hop profile was a little more balanced, those spicy green hops were pretty dominating. This beer had ok drinkability, one is just the right amount for me, I don't think i would want to drink two in a row. What I like the most about this beer is the appearance and mouthfeel, they were both pretty good. What I liked the least about this beer was how dominating the spicy green hops were, they could have been toned down some to let some of the other flavors come through. I would buy this beer again, but it isn't something I will stock up on. It's worth a try if you really like spicy green hops, but I can't say I would highly recommend it. All in all I thought it was a nice beer, but it had just a couple aspects that held it back from being as good as it could be. IT's not a favorite Short's beer and it's a little above average for a Fresh hopped beer.

Pour is bright golden with a fluffy white head. Smells like grapefruit rind, black pepper and white wine-like. Taste is a lot of grapefruit, lemon, marijuana, and onions. It's very bitter but enjoyable. Clean finish and drinkable. This was really well done. My first wet hopped IPLager. Wish more places did something like this.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, bottled on 10/2/2015. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of big lemon zest, tangerine, orange peel, peach, guava, pepper, spruce, pine, cracker, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of dank citrus/tropical/earthy hops and light pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big lemon zest, tangerine, orange peel, peach, guava, spruce, pepper, pine, cracker, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Large amount of piney/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, tangerine, orange peel, peach, guava, spruce, pepper, pine, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and robustness of big dank citrus/tropical/earthy hops and light pale malt flavors; with a solid malt/bitterness balance and some light lingering hop astringency after the finish; but not too bad. High amount of dryness after the finish from bitterness and minimal malt flavors. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and sticky/resinous mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice wet hopped IPL style. All around great complexity and robustness of dank citrus/tropical/earthy hops and light pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Clear and Golden with a soapy, honeycomb head. Dissipates to a swirled cap, with attractive rings of lacing.
Aroma is bready lemon biscuit goodness, with touches of fresh splashes of grapefruit.
Taste is bright, clean and fresh, just as a lager should, but with a slight bitter edge from the hopping. Lemon and orange zest.
