Notes: Sticky Icky Icky is a radiantly clear, copper-colored American India Pale Ale. It is loaded with citrusy hop aromas of oranges, nectarines, and apricots. This light, yet full bodied ale is perfectly balanced by equal parts sweet malt and juicy hops. A medium bitterness along with a subtle earthiness lingers in the finish.

This new American India Pale Ale is what Ryan Hale, the head brewer at the Bellaire pub, referred to as his quintessential IPA. Ryan combined all of his favorite hops resulting in what he described as “pure juicy goodness”. This beer is loaded with all of the big citrus and fruity flavors American hops can offer.

Description: Orange, apple cider color and cloudy (like cider). Small amount of white head. Smell is dank, sweet, candy, papaya and mango - not pine or bitter at all. Taste is not super similar to the smell and is less dank and more bitter. Even a little bit musty. Body is medium with medium to high carbonation.

Overall: 4 (This beer is good and I may or may not drink it again) Not memorable or standout, but a good, respectable beer. Pretty middle of the road.

Canned on 8/6/19.Poured into a pub style mug a slight orange tinged golden with a full finger rocky meringue-like head atop.Citrus punch in the nose with a bit of grass, full on northeast here.Much drier on the palate wich is great, citrusy but with a drying mild bitterness that lingers in the finish,it never gets overly sweet. Not a dank bomb but an ipa that never gets overly sweet and is highly drinkable.

Appearance – This is a solid, murky orange in color with an easy persistent head.

Smell – Big orange rind and some pink grapefruit rule the nose. It’s doesn’t smell dry-hopped but is otherwise an extremely pungent AIPA. After a few minutes of whiffing it comes on with a more sweetish orange character. There is actually a plausible malt base so kudos to balancing this monster nose.

Taste – The malt balance comes on a bit strong at the taste but the hopping runs this show for sure. A little bit of the sweetness is gone and the ale becomes more rindy.

Mouthfeel – This is a big medium-bodied with plenty of drying throughout.

Drinkability – This is a master class. Big but not overbearing, balanced but hop-heavy, enough drying that it’s not a session ale but smooth, and clearly consists of high-quality ingredients. Well done Short’s Brewing!

A: deep golden with a very slight haze and a nice thick layer of foam
S: citrusy with a strong hop tone. very sweet and pleasant to inhale
T: sweet at first with a nice bitter after taste

O: overall i would recommend it for a try. It is far from my favorite but definitely worth tasting.

Appearance: Pours slightly hazy with a golden/amber color and a one finger head; a few strands of lacing

Smell: Floral and juicy, with fruity tones of papaya and apricot as well as an orange burst

Taste: Papaya and apricot forward with a hint of biscuity malt underneath; the middle brings forward a hint of clementine orange; low to moderate bitterness lingers into the finish but plays a supporting role

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A precursor to the New England style, this is a delicate IPA that is easy to drink

Poured from 12oz bottle into glass. No bottling date information found.
Partly cloudy, deep gold colored body. Half a finger of white head settles back to thin cap and ring. Leaves behind a pattern of small lacing spots.
Citrus hops and malts in the aroma.
Taste has citrus and apricot flavored hops, along with a good base of malts. Has a touch of bitterness but this does not linger, and has some earthiness as described.
Medium mouth feel, with a touch of syrup. Good carbonation.
Good IPA with a balance of hops and malts. Tastes a little old but cannot tell with no bottling date. At whatever age this is, there is a little honey aspect that shows up. Would try again if the bottling date was known, and it was not aged.

An excellent IPA that lives up to its reputation. Nice amber color with a little head and some spotty lingering lacing. Smells great, nice citrus and herbal hops along with some floral hops. Tastes of citrus zest - orange, tangerine, lemon, grapefruit - as well as herbal and floral hops, malt, caramel and bread. Some woodsy pine notes as well. Nice amount of bitterness at the end that rounds it out well. Smooth mild mouthfeel and great amount of carbonation. A solid, tasty, juicy IPA and one that definitely hits all the right notes.

If your an IPA drinker than you will love this dank brew. I love the cover art. You dive right into heavy flavored hops without a strong aroma. I like it because it does not infuse a bunch of fruit. It's a straight up IPA.

From a bottle dated 10/25/17. Pours a deep amber with a thick, soapy head and sticky lacing.

The smell is pineapple, pine, and citrus.

The taste is thin with some burnt pine and tropical flavors.

The mouthfeel has medium carbonation, a dry finish, with some lingering bitterness.

Overall this is easy to drink but lacks any strong flavors.

12oz bottle served in a snifter. Brought home from Philadelphia by my wife, brought to her by some friends from Michigan. Packaged 10/25/17. Bottle barely gasped when I cracked the top...makes me wary.

Pours a moderately hazy amber color with very little head but medium to high very fine carbonation. Smell is piney, but mild.

Taste is mild and piney. Surprising note of sweetness.

Mouthfeel is smooth, light, not as flat as I feared but not carbonated enough. Not bad, but not special.

Sticky icky delicious when super fresh. Almost tastes and feels like a wet hops. It will now be a yearly tradition for me to pick up a 6 pack of this. Deliciously juicy and dank with flavors of tangerine, grapefruit, pine, oil, and resin.

12oz bottled 10/26/17 poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass at fridge temp (7.1% ABV 78 IBU per website). The beer pours bright light honey in color with sticky off white head. The head persists at a nice cap and leaves some lacing. The aroma is grapefruit peel and fruit with a little caramel thrown in. The taste is semisweet fruity, citrusy caramel up front transitioning into dank bitterness on the end. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, well carbonated and mostly dry. There is a noticeable "stickiness" in the feel from the hops. Overall, very good midwest IPA.

12 ounce bottle into a tulip glass. Bottled 10/3/16, had 11/17/16.

Pours a bright, medium gold, a little cloudy, with a one inch head and some foamy lacing. Smells of pine, grapefruit, pineapple, orange, yeast, light malt, light funk on the pour. As the hop aroma fades- and it does, a sweet aroma emerges. The taste gives more citrus than the nose- grapefruit, orange. some pineapple, some pine and resin in the background, malt, yeast, a strong amount of bitterness throughout. Smooth, well carbonated, a good body, fuller for the style.

Good flavor, well balanced between the hops and the malt. Good aroma early, enjoyable to drink. Worth trying a couple bottles.

Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. There is also a dryness and bitterness. Tastes of piney hops, spicy hops, slight alcohol, resin, yeast, and slight earthy malt. Overall, good appearance, aroma, body, and blend.

Another very good ipa. Short's caught my fascination because I like the state its brewery is located in, but none the less a solid offering. I could elaborate more. I just think this has the right amount of bite, water quality and timing. I'm in the mood for ipa's it winter!

Acquired from CapCollector16, so a big “Thank You” goes out to him. Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color with a large off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick but spotty lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains grassy and funky hops, citrus and caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out with a strong grassy hops bitterness that is quickly followed by sweet flavors of citrus and caramel. The malt character is hearty but not too heavy and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, good kick, good representation of style, this is a solid IPA to drink for a long time.

12 oz bottle poured into a shaker pint.

Golden with 1 finger of loose off-white head. Light carbonation with tons of sediment floating about.

Pineapple, dank, pine, peach, passion fruit, honey, grapefruit, and orange citrus.

Peach, passion fruit, and pineapple juice. Candied orange, grapefruit juice, dank, and pine sap. Light biscuity maltiness with drizzles of honey. Light resiny finish.

Medium bodied, silky, juicy, and lightly drying with a medium-light bitterness.

A juicy IPA with a relatively low bitterness. One of the better offerings that I've had from Short's. Go get some!

12 fl. oz bottle
Served in a tulip glass

This beer pours amber in color with golden highlights. It has a light haze, and I can see suspended yeast. It is topped with two inched of beige head that rings of lacing as I drink.

When I first poured it I got melon and citrus along with a healthy dose of juniper. After a bit the malt became apparent and some pine come out.

The taste is very similar. I got an immediate splash of citrus and melon. Pine was very noticeable in the finish. The pine began to pervade my palate about one third of the way through the glass. I could taste some malt as it warmed a little.

Medium mouthfeel

I really liked the initial taste. Once the bitter pine flavor took over I liked it less.

12oz bottle purchased as a single for $1.89 from local Heinen's. Bottled dated 10/14/2016.

Slightly hazy, straw-yellow elixir, poured into SA glass. 1.5 finger, white foam, to covering rim, thick lacing.

Nice hoppy dank pine, earth, spice, grass with a subtle tropical undertones.

The taste certainly follows the name: dank resin, pine, spice with the bitterness calmed by the tropical fruits. But make no mistake, the sticky hops predominate.

Medium body, slick, tangy, nicely carbonated. Alcohol hidden.

A well done IPA which showcases some nice, dank hops.

Bottled on 10/14/16. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a hazy deep golden; big chunky eggshell white head that sticks around leaving great retention and very sticky lacing. Some minor sediment is noticeable. Lots of froth. The aromas are tropical with some hints of citrus. Hints of pineapple along with some grapefruit. Some cracker and bread is present. Malts are there but not overwhelming at all. The flavors seem to follow the nose. More pineapple and lots of grapefruit. The citrus flavors really shine. Lots of pine with some fresh grass in the mix. Solid earthy bitterness with a nice balanced malt backbone. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is very nice. It's on the lighter side of medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's very smooth and easy to drink.

This is a nice IPA. The aromas start off great, but seem to quickly fade. The craftsmanship is on point. Very enjoyable stuff.
