A- A bit cloudy, orange in color. Little head disappears quickly with plenty of lingering lacing. (Note- I tipped the bottle over while pouring, which may explain why the head was small.?...)

S- Herbal malts prevail. Maybe a little orange.

T- Slight herbal sweetness with a citrus backbone. however the sweetness is soon overpowered by a mild hoppy character that is pleasing to my tongue. Finishes crisp and clean.

M- This pale ale goes down very easy clean and wet. Real pleasant refreshing feel.

O- Shorts hit the spot with this one for sure! Incredible drinkability, smooth and crisp. Great hop flavors throughout. Also this one doesn't have the "Shorts aftertaste" that some of their beers can have. A great version of a pale ale.

Picked up a fresh sixer the day received at the local liquor store.

A: Pours a faint orange-y tangerine hue quick with a very fine-carbonated head that dissipates in a flash. Leaves zero lacing and almost looks flat the entire time its in your glass.

S: Toasted malt/bread and doughy scent.. and hops tingle the senses. Smells like citrus and oranges.

T: Very clean taste. The hops are the highlight here, quick snappy bite and definitly picking up the tangerine flavor in here. Very drinkable, could session these easily. Very quaffable indeed. Smooth and refined.

M: Classic pale ale here. The hops are the highlight. Dry-hoppy mouthfeel and balanced nicely with the malt backbone.

This beer is very good. Similar to their classic Pandemonium Pale Ale. This one is more fruity, and balances well with the malty backbone. Nicely done again, Shorts!

12/20/13 bottling date. Poured 1/20/14. Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass.

Appearance: Really, really gorgeous. I managed a perfect pour with this beer and it's a thing of beauty with a thick, chunky (sounds attractive, huh?) head and plenty of lacing. The highlight is the super hazy orange color in the glass. Keep in mind I made sure to swirl around the last couple ounces in the bottle to get all that cloudy yumminess in my glass.

Smell: Decidedly hoppy, but the malt is in there enough to make this a hoppy APA rather than an IPA. Not sure of the exact hop notes I'm getting in here though. I suppose some sort of pineapple and piney, oily resin sorts of smells. Fresh. Pleasant. Not blowing me away, but it smells nice.

Taste/feel: The feel on this beer is of significance -- a surprising creamy, medium body with a medium amount of carbonation. A damn nice mouth feel not often found in a typical pale ale. The taste matches the smell a good bit, but with a bit more of a mango and grapefruit citrus flavor than pineapple. Slightly bitter hop aftertaste, but very pleasant and a perfect amount for a hopped up APA. If you have this brew, I'd recommend getting EVERYTHING in your glass/mouth to experience the best of this beer.

Actually really nice... I like this quite a lot. The pour is beautiful, it has a nice balance, the mouth feel is very good. I'm impressed.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 12/20/2013. Pours moderately hazy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty foamy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of tangerine, peach, pineapple, lemon zest, floral, grass, toast, biscuit, light pine, light caramel, and floral/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with bright citrus hops and moderate toast/biscuit malt notes; with good strength. Taste of tangerine, peach, pineapple, lemon zest, pine, toast, biscuit, light caramel, floral, grass, and floral/toasted earthiness. Good amount of earthy floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, lemon zest, peach, pineapple, pine, floral, grass, toast, biscuit, light caramel, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and complexity of bright citrus/pine hops and moderate toast/biscuit malt flavors; with a great crisp malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice pale ale! All around good balance and complexity of bright citrus/pine hops and moderate toast/biscuit malts; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
