Melt My Brain is an experimental Golden Ale brewed with coriander, juniper berries, limes and blended with tonic water to create the tasting experience of drinking a gin and tonic cocktail. Delicate aromas of citrus and pine flow into bold bright flavors of sweet lime with a slightly sticky bitterness. Refreshing and clean, a tasty tonic effervescence provokes the palate for more. Surprised by the light clear pour. Nose was a bit skunky. Drinks like a cider which I believe is the plan. Sweetness fades quickly. Would be a good one for a poolside drink.

Appearance – pours clear golden yellow with a decent thin white head that very quickly dissipates to a thin ring.

Aroma – Lime, lemon zest and coriander are prominent right off the bat. Little bit of grain underneath and a slight floral aroma.

Taste – Man the flavors really pop. Lime, lemon, maybe raspberry or boysenberry?? The taste is much fruitier than the nose let on. Slightly sweet with a mild floral finish.

Feel – Really light bodied at first but I am not sure if it is the fruit or what gives it a slightly dry syrupy finish.

Overall – I really like this one, pretty light very flavorful and easy drinking.

Melt My Brain brewed by Short's Brewing Company, with an ABV of 4.00% This brew pours out of 32oz growler into a pint beer glass a light slightly hazy amber color with a small white head. Thin spotty lacing to this brew, it does stick to the side of the glass. The smell is rich with citrus flavors, spices and grains and malts. This is classified as a American Blonde Ale but seems to be more of a sour, but that is beside the point. So far this is a nice inviting brew, now for the taste, it is different but in a good way. You first pick up on a Spicy Citrus flavors mixed with grains and malts. I really like the tartness an spice in this brew. The body of Melt My Brain is a solid medium. There is nothing overpowering about this brew, it has a super nice balance to it. This is a real easy drinking brew, not a high ABV, it would go nice on a hot summer day. The mouth feel is Citrus, Spicy, Clean, Smooth, and Refreshing. Overall I am going to give Melt My Brain a Soild 4 out of 5. I would definitely look this brew up again giving the opportunity to.Short's Brewing Company, did a nice job with this brew.

I got this brew in a blind pick in the growler section at the store, so it is what it is, I really enjoy drinking an reviewing this brew.

This beer should have a lot going on in the flavor/taste area, but it falls short (oops!) as it's mainly sweet from the coriander and berries, but there's not much of a contribution from the juniper which would have made for an interesting beer. The lime is also a bit overplayed and manifests mainly in the aftertaste. Not a bad beer, but I probably wouldn't look for it again.

Tried this on draft. Only read the description after I tasted it. It’s one of those beers that you keep tasting to see if you like it. I like what they are doing with the gin and tonic but why such a strong coriander? Could increase the juniper and reduce the lime. Overall I found it interesting and would drink it again.

I’m not sure this is beer, but it is fun. It is light and sweet and has most of the g&t thing. The gin side is a bit light, but the sweet tonic thing is there full force. I like this for the unique aspect, but wouldn’t want more than one in a session

Decent beer but a little confusing and unique in its taste. Sampled this one on tap. Clear golden color, no real head or lacing. Smells very faintly of fruit. Tastes of sweet fruit, a little grain and wheat, and some tartness throughout. Mild mouthfeel, decent carbonation. Vaguely reminds me of a sweeter wine - like a Riesling or Cava.

I got this off the single shelf at my local Meijer. This ranks up there with most interesting beer. It poured a clear pee yellow....with no head and no lace. The scent had hints of ginger and berry. The taste started tart with berry then finishes with strong tonic finish. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's different....i will struggle to finish this one.

A - Hazy pale yellow body, almost electric cast, with a slim head of white that fades away, and no lacing.

S - Sour lactic hit, a bit of fruit, kiwi and strawberries, a bit of lime and lemon.

T - Couple the sour note with a strong hit of sweetness. While fruit is present, it is not clearly defined, suggesting everything from mango and peach to starfruit and lime. Still, the flavor is overall welcoming, with the acidity at the core, but fruit and sugar dancing over the top.

W - A step more full than a standard brew, just a touch of stickiness, but with enough tartness to clear the tongue.

O - This is a misleading brew. The name promises something heavy, but that is not what I experienced. The mingling flavors offer a very nice drink, at turns sweet and sour. Lovely.

this is definitely a love it or hate it sort of thing and i happen to fall on the love it side. you probably have to be a gin and tonic fan to appreciate it, but man if you are, buckle in, because this thing is heaven! blended lightly tart ale brewed with all the fixins, limes and juniper and coriander and actually blended with tonic water! who ever heard of such a thing. like or dislike the beer, you have to like shorts for going for something like this! i can actually smell and taste quinine in this, the tonic must be no small part of the blend, and its exceptional with the limes and the sourness, which is mild and clean. juniper is right where it should be, gin enthusiasts may wish for more, but i like it being mild enough that this can be approachable (to some extent) for everyone, yet still quite obvious. i also love how low alcohol and clean and bubbly this is, it allows for a ton of volume consumption and keeps it so summery and refreshing, especially with the limes and the drying salt. i think margarita fans may also appreciate this one, even with the appreciable tonic property. this is delicious and distinct, and really ambitious beer. shorts killed it here, inventive and smart!

A thanks to the commander of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a hazy, bright golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of limes, juniper. Taste is limes, light juniper and spices, highly refreshing. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall, I didn't really get the gin and tonic flavors, but this is in interesting and enjoyable take on the style.
