Notes / Commercial Description:
Melt My Brain is an experimental Golden Ale brewed with coriander, juniper berries, limes and blended with tonic water to create the tasting experience of drinking a gin and tonic cocktail. Delicate aromas of citrus and pine flow into bold bright flavors of sweet lime with a slightly sticky bitterness. Refreshing and clean, a tasty tonic effervescence provokes the palate for more. Melt My Brain was awarded a silver medal in the Experimental Beer category at the 2015 Great American Beer Festival.

A - Hazy pale yellow body, almost electric cast, with a slim head of white that fades away, and no lacing.

S - Sour lactic hit, a bit of fruit, kiwi and strawberries, a bit of lime and lemon.

T - Couple the sour note with a strong hit of sweetness. While fruit is present, it is not clearly defined, suggesting everything from mango and peach to starfruit and lime. Still, the flavor is overall welcoming, with the acidity at the core, but fruit and sugar dancing over the top.

W - A step more full than a standard brew, just a touch of stickiness, but with enough tartness to clear the tongue.

O - This is a misleading brew. The name promises something heavy, but that is not what I experienced. The mingling flavors offer a very nice drink, at turns sweet and sour. Lovely.

this is definitely a love it or hate it sort of thing and i happen to fall on the love it side. you probably have to be a gin and tonic fan to appreciate it, but man if you are, buckle in, because this thing is heaven! blended lightly tart ale brewed with all the fixins, limes and juniper and coriander and actually blended with tonic water! who ever heard of such a thing. like or dislike the beer, you have to like shorts for going for something like this! i can actually smell and taste quinine in this, the tonic must be no small part of the blend, and its exceptional with the limes and the sourness, which is mild and clean. juniper is right where it should be, gin enthusiasts may wish for more, but i like it being mild enough that this can be approachable (to some extent) for everyone, yet still quite obvious. i also love how low alcohol and clean and bubbly this is, it allows for a ton of volume consumption and keeps it so summery and refreshing, especially with the limes and the drying salt. i think margarita fans may also appreciate this one, even with the appreciable tonic property. this is delicious and distinct, and really ambitious beer. shorts killed it here, inventive and smart!

A thanks to the commander of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a hazy, bright golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of limes, juniper. Taste is limes, light juniper and spices, highly refreshing. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall, I didn't really get the gin and tonic flavors, but this is in interesting and enjoyable take on the style.

12 fl. oz bottle
Served in a pint glass

This beer pours pale yellow in color with a slight haze. It is topped with an inch of white head that virtually no lacing.

Lime is the first thing that I smell. The smell is mild compared to the taste. I get a little juniper as well.

The taste has lime and juniper. I taste the tonic water in the finish.

Moderate to thin mouthfeel

This is an interesting beer. It has a lot of flavor. The tonic water adds a unique twist. I like it, and it is refreshing.

Taste: complex, semi sweet, dry tonic mouth-feel, Juniper and coriander spices in background. Lime and citrus with fermented fruit nose. Gold, mostly clear, delicate white head with ring of lace. Medium to med/lite body. unique, and kinda refreshing, super dry, lime. 18 IBUs

A - Medium gold color with alot of floaties suspended in the glass, minimal lacing ring.

S - Coriander and juniper but very faint on the nose.

T - The juniper berries overrun this beer and completely take over, there's even a somewhat cranberry presence to the flavor. There's also some tangy lime with a little bit of acidity to it. Overall the beer has a little bit of tang to it.

M - Medium body with a somewhat watery finish.

O - Not my gig but I can see where this would be a welcome treat on a 90+ degree day with high humidity. Glad to have tried it, one is enough.

Pretty, light color.
Sour, limey, with a strong smell and bitter aftertaste.
This beer pretty much tastes like someone accidentally poured a lager into your gin and tonic. It's not....bad.. but it's a little unexpected.
This one definitely tastes best ice cold.

Golden ale brewed w/ coriander, juniper berries, lime and tonic water added. Limeade, wheat and simple grain malt sweetness. Tonic water bitterness on the finish. Slick feel. Can't tell if this is terrible or ok. Hmm.
