Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.70%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Named after the hop flower Humulus Lupulus, this India Pale Ale style beer has enormous amounts of hop bitterness, flavor and aroma. With a very complex malt bill, flavors seem to meld with the hops to balance this ale and provide a ridiculous urge to sample more.

Hazy like a New England IPA. Very drinkable. Would buy again. Worth cloning.

Honey golden, 2 fingers.

Lots of tropical hop, albeit maybe a bit spoilt. Some odd sweetness, and cracker, banana.

Quite a bit of herb and spoIiled tropical hop. Tough biscuit and cracker malts. Hard to finish.

A bit thin on the feel. Mild carbonation.

Not a good ipa. Yick.

I tend to not like Short's. I find them a little too "out there" at times. This though is a super tasty bitter but balanced IPA. Smells so good and the taste mostly follows. The aftertaste is nice as well though a little overpowering. An appealing head formed and stuck around for a while in my tulip glass.

Short's Huma Lupa Licious India Pale Ale | Short's Brewing Company. Poured from the bottle into a BBC pint glas, the head on this beer is three fingers thick and off-white, with spotty lacing, and an opaque medium-to darker gold body.

I smell an abundant smattering of juicy, citrus-y, and slightly pine-y hops set among an admittedly inviting malt complex.

Tastes like a refreshing, not-too-bitter version of the scent with a tremendous honey biscuit malt finish. Nice to have it the other way around. You know what I'm talkin' bout ;) Naw, but seriously this is one of the better balanced IPA's I've tasted in recent memory.

The mouthfeel is medium with mild carbonation.

Overall, I'll rate Short's Huma Lupa Licious India Pale Ale | Short's Brewing Company with a 4.5. A good choice in a myriad of IPA's.

I thought the bitterness was too harsh & unbalanced & the mouthfeel was not full enough for my liking when compared to some of the other fine IPAs I've enjoyed.

Very hazy copper in color when poured. The nose is very hop forward and the taste is super hoplicious. Their is a bite at the end afterwards I cannot put my finger on. Decent hoppy dank beer.
