I Got 5 On It is a medium-light bodied American India Pale Ale brewed with five different hop varieties. A blend of earthy and sweet citrus hop aromas softy rise from this hop forward brew. Bready malt and fruity tangerine flavors lead into a prominent bitterness that resonates pleasantly and finishes dry.

A - Pours a hazy gold with a two finger foamy white head. Nice amount of soapy lacing.
S - Aroma is grapefruit, tangerine, sweet malts & piney hops.
T - The taste is follows the aroma. Sweet malts, tangerine and grapefruit upfront followed by tons of piney hops. The finish has a lingering bitterness.
M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel with a soft dry finish.
O - This is a solid IPA. The flavors are nice with the hops adding a solid lasting bitterness.

I got a bottle of Short's I Got 5 On It for $1.89 at The Lager Mill. I'm always down to try a new beer from Short's and this one has peaked my interest, so lets see how it goes. 2017 Vintage. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into an IPA glass.
A- The label looks good, it goes good with the name and it's eye catching. It poured a hazy gold color which took on more of a hazy gold orange color when held to the light and it had two fingers worth of slightly creamy off white head that died down to a thing ring that stayed till the end and it left some patchy lacing behind. This is a good looking IPA, I have no complaints.
S- The aroma starts off with a lower amount of high sweetness with the fruity hops being the first to show up and they impart a nice apricot, citrus, berry, a little bit of mango and a general fruit aroma that goes into some more hops which impart a slightly floral hoppy aroma. Up next comes a little bit doughy yeast that leads into the malts which impart some pale malt, slightly grainy, bready and biscuit like malt aromas. This beer has a good aroma, the bright and fruity hop profile works well with it.
T- The taste seems to be similar to the aroma and it starts off with a lower amount of high sweetness and it starts off with the hops still being the first to show up and they impart all the same aspects that they did in the aroma, but this time the fruity hops are light with more green hops flavors coming through. Up next comes a little bit of doughy yeast that goes right into the malts which impart all the same aspects that they did in the aroma and they show up just as much. On the finish there's a higher amount of bitterness that lingers and it has a green hop, fruity hop and sweet malt aftertaste. This is a pretty nice tasting beer, but I wish the hop profile was a little like it was in the aroma with a little less bitterness.
M- A little smooth, lingering bitterness, not too crisp, on the lighter side of being full bodied with a lower amount of carbonation. The mouthfeel is nice, but I wish it was smoother.
Overall I thought this was a nice beer and nice example of the style, it was going in the right direction, but when it got to the taste, drinkability and mouthfeel it got to be a little rough around the edges. This beer had ok drinkability, one is enough for me anymore than that and it would be too much for me. What I like the most about this beer is the appearance and aroma, those are for sure the highlights of this beer. What I like the least about this beer is the mouthfeel, I just wish it was smoother and not as bitter. I'm not sure I would buy this beer again and I can't say I would recommend it as a great example of the style. All in all I liked this beer, but I didn't love it and it could still use some work. It's one of my least favorite Short's beers that I've had lately and it's a solid example of the style. Better luck next time guys, this one could still use a little more work.

Purchased at The Keg, New Albany, IN. Six pack of bottles. Poured into my trust Pilsner glass that everything gets dumped in. I don't see a bottled date.
A: Golden, hazy. Nice head and lacing.
S: Man, it just isn't there. Very light citrus, vegetables, and some "beer smell". Seriously. It's no Bud Light, but I was expecting some IPA bomb wow.
T: I get mostly rind and bitter pine. Not that good, dank pine. Decent malt finish. I expected way more. A bad bottle, maybe? Hides the ABV, always a good thing.
M: Medium body and carbs. Dry. A little creamy. Not bad here.
O: It just isn't there. I really think this is a crap bottle, I know Short's does better than this. I'll drink it, don't get me wrong, but glad I have some good old dependable Torpedo in the fridge.
