12oz bottled 8/25/17 (not visible until poured, black ink on bottle neck) poured into a tulip pint glass at fridge temp with no ABV on label. The beer pours bright deep red, orange amber in color with khaki head. The head recedes to a thin film and leaves some lacing. The aroma is very muted caramel malt. The taste is vague caramel malt at first that transforms to big English malt and an equal part of earthy hops. The aftertaste is almost tea like, which I have noticed in other English malt beers. Mouthfeel is medium to thin bodied, lowly carbonated, smooth and somewhat dry. Overall, very good if you are sticking to style. A nice beer anyway. I wish they would put some info and a date on their labels.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle poured into a Founder's Harvest Party pint. Bottled on 8/28/17, making this just over 1 month old.

A: Pours a slightly hazy burnt orange/amber color. Lacy white head.

S: The aroma really makes this a Fall beer. Nice notes of caramel, grape, cashew, honey.

T: Grape, caramel malt, bready sweetness. Just enough hop flavor on the finish to keep it crisp.

M: Medium body, not boozy at all. Great carbonation.

O: First had this beer 6 years ago. Was one of my early introductions to the great lore of Michigan Fall beers. This is always a great way to kick off the Fall drinking season. Just enough hop crispness to ease you out of the hoppy summer beers and then slowly into the malty and sweeter Octoberfest and Pumpkin beers. It's a great transitional beer that stands out from the rest. Very drinkable and just seasonal enough. Awesome artwork, too.

Recommendation: I'd be shocked if you haven't tried this beer by now, but I still highly recommend this beer to kick off your Autumn.

Good look, nice and dark amber red color. Pours a strong head good lacing.
Smell is meh. Kinda spicy and earthy, maybe. My sense of smell is shit.
Mouth feel is good. About how I prefer beer on average. Maybe too think for a hot summer day, but solidly medium.
Mostly caramel malts up front, and mostly earthy hops on the back. Honestly, my taste buds aren't exactly sure what kind of interaction is going on. I don't like how the malt & hops blend together but I can't exactly put my finger on why. I leave it to more refined palates to uncover the mystery.

It poured a clear amber and gave the same color body. A small white head appeared and barely lasted fifteen seconds before dieing altogether into the body. No lacing is left behind. The smell has the caramel up front with some light inviting fruits, slight citrus. The taste is the same with a slightly dry aftertaste. The palate is about a light to medium with some light harshness on the tongue. It had a bitter finish and is fairly drinkable. Overall, pretty good for the most part.

I bought a bottle of this off the Binny's single shelf. The beer poured a murky amber with no head and no lace. The scent had hints of bitter hop. The taste was slightly bitter...and unimpressive. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with subtle carbonation. Overall it's ok.

I'm not sure why I bought this bottle - I had Short's amazing Goodnight Bodacious on tap yesterday, so I guess maybe I just wanted a little more from the brewer. It's probably been sitting in the store for a while but now it gets consumed.

It poured out pretty clear and light brown but at the end of the pour some miscellaneous matter came out clouding it up a bit. It continues to fizz. It has a big, sweet ESB smell. The taste also is big and sweet and skunky. I have to think it would have been pretty similar a little fresher

I am happy this is a bit bitter. I doubt I would go for one again, but give it a try if you want a nice ESB.

Bottled 8/3/16; drank 9/25/16 @ the Yarchives.

Semi-opaque red/purple appearance.

A violent pour yielded a small, noisy khaki head; decent lace.

Grapefruit, brown sugar & acorn notes in the nose.

Medium thick mouthfeel.

Grapefruit, acorn & mild brown sugar flavors; an odd mix that is drinkable but a bit off-putting.

12 ounce bottle into a tulip glass. Had 10/23/16.

Pours a cloudy amber, with a half inch head and a good amount of foamy lacing. The smell is malt, hops, yeast, toffee, caramel. The taste is not much different- yeast, hops, malt, caramel, a little bready, with a light hop bitterness throughout, more on the finish.

This is good, enjoyable to drink. Not as malty as others for the style.

Aroma is English ale yeast/malts, fruit and a hint of tobacco. The flavor is fruit/berries, malts, very mild tobacco, mild sweetness in the middle and a dry/slightly hoppy finish.

A - Clear dark copper body, short white head, fading quickly to a tight ring around the edge.

S - Strong caramel note, a bit of toffee, spun sugar, and a soft spiced tea element.

T - The hit is immediately bitter, over-steeped tea, and this lingers throughout, but then a doughy thread appears and a punch of sweet caramel, before these fade back to a long lingering bitterness.

M - Thin, and a bit dry on the close.

O - I like what is going on here, but the threads do not quite hang together. The bitterness is a bit strong, the promised caramel and toffee float too far below the surface. Good, but just a bit more integration would push this to another level.

Tasted in a pint glass from draught at Firkin on October 11, 2016. Look is cloudy deep amber with a thin off-white head and spotty lacing. Smell is caramel malt. Taste is caramel malt and some funk.
