12 fl. oz bottle
Served in a pint glass

This beer pours amber with burnt orange highlights. It has a slight haze. It is topped with an inch of beige head that leaves some decent lacing.

So, this is what a catty IPA smells like. I also get a little citrus. The cat piss kind of runs the show.

The taste is catty, too, but I do taste the blood oranges and even the guava.

Moderate to light mouthfeel

After the initial wave of cat piss the fruit comes out. It is not too shabby. I will have no problem downing my six pack.

Appearance is of an orange hue with a finger width of foamy head, good lacing. Smell is of grapefruit rind, orange, mango, and guava, super tropical in the nose. Taste-grapefruit, orange, and guava all come through nicely with a earthiness of lemongrass in the tailend, mild bitterness of the hops comes through but is not overwhelming or in the fashion of a west coast IPA, overall has a bit of sweetness to it. Mouthfeel is moderate body leaving a dry puckering feel to the cheeks after the last sip. Overall this is a great double IPA that is cross in flavor between an east coast and west coast style IPA. The sweetness and juicyness from the blood oranges and guava really stand out and won't be for everyone but if you love guava and tropical fruit this one is worth seeking out. Very good IPA.

Pours a honey tinged golden with a very thin quick to fade white head atop.Deep guava and grapefruit aromas with the blood orange-like sweetness detected as well, deeply fruity.Flavors start out somewhat sweet and the blood orange stands out as I drink more the guava really slides in nicely, deeply fruity with minimal bitterness to be had,no need of much of a hop profile.Wow what a joy to drink,to me a vastly underrated beer.

Poured from 12 oz bottle dated 2/22/2018. Cool artwork on the bottle.

A: Clear golden orange with two finger frothy white head. Lasting retention and chunky lacing.

S: Nice lunch of citrus as I popped the top. Candied oranges, red grapefruit, mango, and passion fruit. Dank hops.

T: Blood orange, red grapefruit, and guava providing a juicy citrus component. Piney resinous hops offering a healthy bitterness.

M: Medium body with average carbonation.

O: Very nice fruited DIPA.

12 ounce bottle into a tulip snifter. Bottled 2/8/17, had 3/16/17.

Pours a bright, somewhat hazy orange, with a half inch foamy head and a good amount of foamy lacing. The smell is tropical and citrus hops- strong guava, blood orange, pineapple, some grapefruit, a good amount of pine, some yeast. Aromas fade throughout. The flavor continues the strong guava, then grapefruit, some blood orange, less pine than the nose. Good malt backbone, good amount of resiny bitterness on the finish. Smooth, good medium body, well carbonated.

Great guava aroma and flavor, good hop/malt balance, very enjoyable. Worth a purchase the next time it comes around.

I picked up a six pack of Short's Cat's Pajama's at The Lager Mill. I was excited to hear this beer was going to be released this year and I can't way to see how it turns out, so lets see how it goes. 2017 Vintage. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into an IPA glass.

A- The label looks good, it goes well with the the name and it's a little eye catching. It poured a nice amber orange color that took on more of a golden orange color when held to the light with two fingers worth of slightly creamy off white head that died down to a thin ring that stayed till the end and it left some spotty lacing behind. This is a good looking beer, I have no complaints.

S- The aroma starts off with a slightly higher amount of medium sweetness with the fruits being the first to show up and it's the guava that sticks out the most, but the blood orange is noticeable and they have a nice juiciness to it and it's followed by the hops which impart a little bit of floral, citrus rind and generic hoppy aromas. Up next comes a little bit of doughy yeast which goes into the malts which are on the light side and they impart some pale malt, light bready and sweet malt like aromas. This beer has a very nice aroma, I like how well the fruits are showcased.

T- The taste seems to be very similar to the aroma and it starts off with a higher amount of medium sweetness with the fruits still being the first to show up and they impart all the same aspects that they did in the aroma with guava still sticking out the most and it's followed by the hoppy flavors which show up just as much as they did in the aroma and they impart all the same aspects. Up next comes a slight bit of doughy yeast and it's followed by the malts which impart all the same aspects and they are just as light as they were in the aroma. On the finish there's a slightly higher amount of medium bitterness with a little more sweetness and it has a very fruit and hoppy aftertaste. This is a very nice tasting beer, the fruits are showcased well and they work well with this beer.

M- Fairly smooth, refreshing, a little crisp, medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. The mouthfeel is good and it works well with this beer.

Overall I thought this was a very nice beer and it;s a very nice example of the style, it reminded me of a blend of Freedom Of 78 and Anniversary Ale and I really liked that. This beer had good drinkability, I could drink a couple of these, especially when it's warmer outside. What I like the most about this beer was how well the fruits were showcased, they were for sure the star of the show. What I like the least about this beer is nothing, it's good just the way it is. I would for sure by this beer again if they make it next year and I would recommend it to anyone who wants an IPA with guave and blood oranges showcased. All in all I was pretty happy with this beer and I was little impressed with just how fruity and juicy it was. It's not my favorite Short's beer, but it's one of the better ones I've had from them lately and it's a very nice example of the style. Good job guys, this is a pretty tasty beer, keep it up.

DIPA done right this is one tasty brew! Color of deep amber brown with just a 1/2 inch of foam. Smells rather fruity as expected with blood orange and Guava in the mix. Hands down the best Blood Orange IPA I ever had balancing the bitterness of the style with the fruit and the Guava really rounds out the sweetness. ABV is well masked I was assuming 7 possibly 8% before checking but 9% is amazing.

Overall one of the best Shorts beers I had in a while! Great job!

Amber colored with an intense pink hue, this DIPA pours out a respectable head and then leaves near-perfect lacing on your glass. Hops take a back seat in the aroma; bread and fruitiness dominate. On the first sip, there is no doubt this is an IPA- welcome to the party alpha hops! Guava makes a pronounced appearance as well and plays harmoniously with Shorts' choice of hop variety. Blood orange is a bit less perceivable, but, in knowing it's there, you can definitely pick it out.

This beer has great balance where neither the hops or fruit are over-powering whilst the malts play a great supporting role. You'd never guess a 9% ABV from this brew because it drinks incredibly easy with it's satin mouthfeel. A beer that I'd be excited to drink again given the opportunity, this is one I'll seek out annually upon release.

Bottled on 2/8/17. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a hazy burnt golden orange with a fluffy off-white head that falls leaving great bubbly retention and sticky lacing. The aromas are subtle with some fresh citrus along with some malts. Crackers and fresh bread is there. The flavors are bittersweet. The guava and blood orange gives this one a solid sweetness, but there's still a solid bitterness. There's a nice juice vibe going on, but it still maintains all beer qualities. Hints of pine and fresh grass. It finishes juicy. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is very nice. It's on the lighter side of full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's slightly thin, but remains fluffy. It's smooth and easy to drink.

This is a solid fruit DIPA. It doesn't come off as a gimmick and stays true to style. It's nothing too crazy, in my opinion, but it's enjoyable stuff. It's clean and refreshing.
