Well, I'm all in for freshness with IPA's and this one is as fresh a bottled beer as I've had. Drank 17 hours after bottling. The purpose of this project was to get the beer into the nose and onto the palate of the consumer as fast as possible, so my hat's off to Shorts and the Distributor's for making this happen.

L: Pours a clear, clean amber color with a 1/4" head produced by a fairly aggressive pour. Minimized to an 1/8" head and maintained with moderate carbonation.

S: HOPS!!! A blend of tropical and earthy fresh grassy, dank hops. This, I feel, is the stand out of this beer. I can't get enough of the smell. I'd love to know more about the this triple, dry-hopped process in this beer. The freshness is, well, refreshing.

T: The hops are not only the focus in the smell, but also in the taste (As an IPA should be). Nice blend of hop profiles. An initial tropical profile quickly combines with that same earthy, grassy profile present in the smell. Leaves a slight bitterness at the end that combines and carries that earthy hop profile. There is just enough malt to carry the hops. I really can't comment much on the malt profile as it is just there to carry the hops (which I'm just fine with). I guess it provides enough balance to not let anything get to out of hand.

F: Medium carbonation is present - I'd like a little more life, but I'm not gonna complain any more than this. Beer swallows smooth and leaves nothing but hops on the palate. Not a heavy beer - drinking 3 of these (without a meal) over 2.5 hours seems about right.

O: A great IPA, I feel like Shorts has accomplished the goal of this project by triple dry-hopping a beer that they were going to get into the hands o the consumer in less than 24 hours. It does two things for me; 1.) get me excited for wet-hop season coming soon in the fall, and 2.) regret not being a solid home brewer that can drink truly fresh beer.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/17/2016 1:43 AM(19 hours ago). Pours crystal clear golden amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of huge tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, light honey, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Incredible aromas with fantastic balance and complexity of bright/dank citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, light honey, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus rind, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, lemon/orange rind, pepper, pine, toasted bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of bright/dank citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero astringent hop flavors lingering after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, dry, moderately sticky/resinous, and fairly creamy/grainy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7.6%. Overall this is an incredible IPA! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of bright/dank citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink; despite the increasingly bitter/drying finish. A highly enjoyable offering.

An awesome idea with fantastic execution. The hoppy citrus flavor is second to none on this one. Definitely enjoyed this more than I have some of the other upper echelon IPAs. If you can find this, grab one! You likely won't be disappointed.

Dank, sour, hoppily bitter, this beer is packed with flavor and spirit, a flavorful punch in the mouth that reminds me why I love IPAs. If you get a chance to try it, either you'll love it or hate it, and luckily I'm on the positive side of that equation.

Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a moderately transparent copper color to it. Slight finger's worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a mild pace that left a thin messy lace running all about.
The aroma was absolutely awesome pulling in dried sweet danky onion to some sweet pine and gently embracing a good firm bitter citrus sweetness gliding in underneath.
The flavor leaned towards the bitter side initially and then seemed to find it's way through keenly in the malts to glide together and give off a semi-crisp sweet piney to citrusy to subtle danky onion-like aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was between light and medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation seemed spot on. ABV felt as projected by the brewer. Finish clung just a touch of acceptable stickiness.
Overall, well, that's an extremely well done AIPA that I would love to have again. And if a Vermonter speaks this highly of this beer, the first 116 people that spoke highly of this beer before me weren't joking around either. Highly recommend!

Not sure my unbiased my review is, as Shorts is my favorite brewery, keep that in mind.

L: looks like someone poured liquid amber into honey. No haze on this one surprisingly, but I do enjoy being able to pour the entire bottle for my dad or grandma who can't handle the haze by-product

S: Funnily enough, the bottle smells better than the poured glass. From the glass I get subtle grapefruit, orange rind, and pine, nectarine, and pineapple. Don't mistake me, however. It doesn't smell like a California IPA. It smells like a 'modern' west coast ipa. One that has been left behind as our palates evolve.

T: Sharp. Grapefruit, orange rind, spruce and pine, valencia orange

F: I very much enjoy the mouthfeel. Occasionally, with a hazy ipa, it feels a bit too light for the style, but this Trumps that by yards.

O: Delicious, yes, but behind the times. I'd buy this over and over again. It matches so much with the beers that made me fall in love with Shorts Brewing in the first place.

16 fl. oz can
Served in a Michigan Wolverines pint glass

This beer pours a hazy, amber color with burnt orange highlights. It is topped with less than an inch of tan head the leaves a little lacing.

The smell is dank and earthy with citrus. The finish has a vegetal bitterness.

The taste starts out with citrus. Dank and bitter flavors quickly creep in. It has a dry finish with a pronounced, lingering bitterness.

Medium and a little chalky

I dig it.

A pint can dated 08/09/17 purchased on 08/16/17 because of the canning issue. Pouring it in a 13oz. tulip for the review.

Look- Pours a very clear dark gold with a tinge of amber leaving a couple centimeters of white foam that quickly turns to a ring with a small amount of lacing left behind.

Smell- Grapefruit, pine, mild floral and sweet malt in the back.

Taste- Grapefruit forward just like the smell, with pine, floral notes, some pineapple, and wet grass.

Feel- Oddly enough it's quite thin on the tongue for such a flavorful beer, then brings a healthy dose of hop bitterness and a dry finish.

Overall- Most of the seasonal/specialty IPA's I've had from Short's in the past have underwhelmed me being too malty and not having enough of a hop profile. This is probably one of their better offerings. It's worth a try if you come across it.

Poured into a Wicked Weed snifter. Bottleneck says 08/17/16.

A- Pours a medium amber color with a 1/4 inch off-white head that retains decently before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of sheer surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves small clots behind.

S- Nice aroma of sweet cereal grain and soft citrusy hops.

T- Good balance of sweet malt, piney hop flavor and moderate bitterness. ABV is hidden quite well. The dryness of the hops entwined with the malt sweetness adds to the drinkability.

M- Somewhat sharp from the hops with medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the lighter side.

O- One of the better IPAs I've had from Short's next to Hopstache.

12oz bottle from LambicPentameter (thanks!). Bottled 8/17/16. Served in a Wicked Weed snifter.

Pours a mildly hazy orange gold witha little over two fingers of pale foam. Nice thick head retention spreads to a full belt, imparting a good deal of lace.

Aromas of oranges, grass, some faint cattyness, pine and peach.

The flavors are wrapped in pleasantly assertive bitter hop oils. Orange peel, lemon zest, fresh cut grass, peach pits, pine resin and a slight note of crackery malt. Quite good.

Oily medium body with zesty carbonation. The mildly bitter aftertaste has citrus peel, grass and some vague fruit pulp.

Shorts continues their strong track record with me. Psychedelic Cat Grass is a well made IPA that I'm happy to have tried.
