Psychedelic Cat Grass is a triple dry hopped American India Pale Ale originally brewed for HopCat. Aromas of pineapple, mango, and grapefruit accompany the brews slightly hazy, pale orange color and lasting white head. A dry finish is preceded by balanced flavors of tropical fruit and bitter hops.

Now this beer is most notably associated with our #WithoutDelayIPA project, where the beer is packaged, delivered, and served within 24 hours. In 2019, Psychedelic Cat Grass will be packaged and distributed throughout Michigan on Friday, May 17th. Look for it to hit Great Lakes Region and Florida stores and restaurants the following week.

Bottled at 1:27am 8/9/17 and drinking @ 5:27pm same day, so this is 16 hours old!

I feel sort of bad saying this, but it looks and smells like pretty much any IPA these days. Dry hopping, which is done in this beer per Short's, is supposed to introduce additional aromatics, but nothing is really standing out to me.

Taste is definitely where this shines the most, but it has that same distinctive Short's IPA aftertaste (not necessarily a bad thing). Seriously crushable!!

One last thing, I guess I'd have to revisit, is that I don't know if the whole 16 hours old thing is anything more than a gimmick at this point. I did have this last year (2016) and don't remember if the ones I drank a week or two later were any different.

Pours an unfiltered orange color with a fluffy white head that provides significant lacing and provides a cap that won’t relent as you drink the beer - literally sticks around with an 1/8” sticking to atop the body of the beer.

The nose is all about dank citrus aromas, with grapefruit, mango, and pineapple most prominent. The hop bill in this beer is Citra, Mosaic, and Amarillo which happen to be probably my three favorite hops, so I like where this is heading.

The taste follows the nose, with big, dank mango, pineapple, and grapefruit flavors complemented by a crackery malt flavor that balances the delightful bitterness (85 IBU’s). Absolutely delicious.

The mouthfeel is bright and very dry, perfect for this WCDIPA. I picked this up because it hits my beer nerd sweet spot, and it didn’t disappoint.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours deep orange yellow with a small white head. Smells of citrus hops with some earthy notes. Tastes of citrus hops with nice grassy notes. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

On tap @ Tap 22. Very fragrant brew here. Tropical fruits aroma is just a harbinger of the tasty treat that's to come. Excellent, very firm hop bitterness. Tropical fruits galore. Well done.

12 oz can into a Becher glass.
L: Pours honey amber gold with a 1/2" rounded off white head, dense fine carbo bubbles, excellent head retention, sticky & frothy random lacing with broken bands and some blocks.
S: Very floral perfume-like hops, caramel, ginger root, a suggestion of fruit bread.
T: Pine, citrus zest, apricot, toasted malts & grains that are woody, honey, cookie dough, ginger, lemon zest.
F: Quite brisk, juicy medium to med-heavy mouthfeel. Has a full center and a medium-long finish that is enticingly dry.
O: Sharp fruit flavors dominate this lovely beer. It is full-flavored and has a tickle to the feel. A TDH zesty delight. It is outstanding in its style.

Buffalo Wild Wings draft pour into a 16 oz shaker. A nice example of a west coast IPA, resiny. Shorts did not skimp on the hops. Good lacing, after the ample head dissipated. Would order again.

Pours hazy, slightly auburn. Nice foam. Aroma has pineapple juice notes. Sip follows. Drying finish. Decent, and enjoyable enough for what it was at the time.
