Style: American Double / Imperial Pilsner

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.10%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Brewed with 40% more ingredients to bump any ordinary pilsner to an imperial level.  We hop the kettle four times, using a good amount of Amarillo hops to balance the malty sweetness from the pilsen malt and  lots of flaked maze. At 7.5% ABV and 50 Bittering Units, this beer is still very quaffable and packed full of flavor thanks to the help of our house American lager yeast.  This beer was brewed upon the request of every ones favorite beer tender, Jeremy “the curl” VanSice

Smells grain, pilsner malt, citrus, grassy and touch of grain.

Tastes pilsner malts, pale malt, grassy, light grain and citrus. Finish is dry with a lagery/pale malt linger. Medium body and smooth medium carbonation.

Pours into a pilsner a lighter golden color with a full two finger bone white head that sticks like glue to the glass leaving a full ring of lace behind as it settles.Grainy and vegetal in the nose like a spring bock in alot of ways, not much sweetness.Quite a dry, metallic palate with some peppery and grassy-like hops with not much sweetness,a cracker malt base is slight. The alcohol is well hidden, not as spring bock-like as I thought it would be.Not bad.

Pours straw colored and clear, with streams of carbonation rising to a tightly packed honeycomb head. Aroma is crusty white bread and grassy, floral hops. Taste follows, with a grainy flavor and zesty hop bite, earthy, grassy and floral.

Hoppy, in your face grassy aroma upfront. This had a light “pilsnery-y” flavor with a muted biscuit note at the end. Drying finish, more grassy hops. Imperial pilsner, indeed.

(Served in a stemmed strange)
A- This beer pours a light hazy golden-yellow body with a lumpy film of snow white and a quick little carbonation.

S-The flinty dry pils aroma has some hints of field corn and sweet sulfur in the finish.

T- The pils malt has a touch of sweetness that enhances the fresh character and a nice pungent hop bitterness that lingers for a moment in the finish.

M- The medium light mouthfeel has a full fizz to it and no alcohol heat.

O- This is a great full Imp. pils that is very well balanced without the big sweetness or alcohol of many others in this style. It shows the hops and malt character in a clean lager. Very drinkable.

Thanks to Another6Pack for this one! I'm only doing a brief write-up, because both of us knew this wasn't the freshest. The haziness was an immediate turn-off, but the big, foamy head looks good. There's still a hefty presence of Amarillo hops (read: lemon zest) appearing aromatically, with its malt backbone staying in the background - this has seemingly held up well. It tastes sweeter than the nose suggested, revealing its age better. I mainly get notes of caramel, white bread, and nuts. At least a slight finishing hop presence and a crisp lager bite helps it go down easily. It definitely doesn't seem fresh, but it's still good right now. I'd love to try this one fresh!

3.44/5: Even with a few months on it, it still has a good hop/malt balance

Tasted and smelled vastly different when first opened, had an almost Belgianesque yeasty feel to it. I let it sit for a while and it really opened up, or the bad stuff dissipated. Big sweet light sugary maltiness with a fair amount of higher alcohols. Grassy earthy pine sol hops. Not a fan, but better the longer it sits.
