Notes / Commercial Description:
FLOAD is a Dark American Sour Ale brewed with raspberries. Very dark in color with a red hue and mauve head, this beer smells of fresh fruit, sour raspberries, and a hint of chocolate. Leading with an intense raspberry tartness, FLOAD is complemented with a light chocolate malty backbone. The finish is dry with lingering sourness.

Pours dark reddish brown. Short, bubbly, off-white head that Fades immediately.

Smells raspberry, Cherry, light funk.

Taste raspberry tart, cherry, plum, dark fruit and caramel. Followed by light roast, dry red wine, vinegar hints and light Funk. Finishes dry with a raspberry linger and dark fruit. Medium body and fizzy medium carbonation.

This is my current favorite American wild sour ale!

Deep amber that pours easily with a slight hint of rosy colored foam. There is a strong aroma of raspberries. Initial taste is a nice sour and tart wave of raspberry. The taste lingers just perfectly for me and has an appropriate balance of sour, sweet, and tart. No trace of bitterness, and the high ABV is well hidden.

Kudos to Short's for an amazing American Wild Ale!

Appearance: poured a burgundy color with a tint of red foam.

Aroma: heavy notes of jammy raspberry and cherries. Smelled like a raspberry fruit roll-up!

Taste: very heavy flavors of cherries and raspberry. Starts out sour with a huge malt sweetness showcasing the dark fruits. It becomes slightly bitter with notes of fruit rind and then finishes tart with even more jammy raspberry.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied and almost thick for a sour. No alcohol warmth but the body is enough to make it a noticeable higher ABV.

Overall: like drinking a dark Belgian soured ale - very malty with pitted fruits mixed with jammy raspberries.

L: Very thin head with the color of gold. Dissipated quickly leaving an outer ring. Beer is as dark as a stout.
S: Definitely get raspberry with bitter chocolate backing it.
T: Tart right off the bat with raspberry quickly turning into chocolate. Nice sweetness.
F: Medium bodied. Good body for a sour in my opinion not too heavy but not way light that way you know you're drinking a beer not water.
O: Solid beer that I enjoyed.

Coffee brown with blackberry highlights. Nice pink-grey-beige head of 1 finger that stays.

Very strange aroma of chemicals, manure, and raspberries. Not particularly appetizing.

Flavor is an otherworldly sort of awful. It's like cherries dipped in steaming shit, paint chips, then some sweet and sour fruit, some dark chocolate, some lactic funk, light metallic, and horseblanket.

Feel is crisp and clinging to the palate. Nice pucker from the yeast and raspberries.

Overall sorry for the graphic description but I'm not really digging this one. The back end of it is fine but you have to get past that overwhelming manure taste that only gets worse as it warms.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 12/6/2017. Pours slightly hazy dark ruby red, light copper/brown color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big juicy/tart/tangy raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, cranberry, cherry, raisin, plum, lemon, green apple, red grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted brown bread; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, musty funk, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, raspberries, and dark/bready/light roast malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big juicy/tart/tangy raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, cranberry, cherry, raisin, plum, lemon, green apple, red grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted brown bread; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, musty funk, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness and fruit tang on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, cranberry, cherry, raisin, plum, lemon, green apple, red grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, caramel, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, light chocolate/cocoa, musty funk, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, raspberries, and dark/bready/light roast malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tartness and tangy fruit balance; with zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tartness and tangy fruit. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.9%. Overall this is a fantastic sour brown ale! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, raspberries, and dark/bready/light roast malt flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the ABV with the modestly acidic/tangy/drying finish, not overly lactic. Insanely jammy raspberries, with balanced Brett/Lacto complexity, and dark/bready/lightly roast malt sweetness. A highly enjoyable offering, and wonderful style example.

Dark garnet tinged liquid with a finger of raspberry colored head that dissolves to nothing, a spot of lacing here and there. Similar in appearance to Faygo Rock n Rye spiked with cola. Fresh raspberry aroma. Flavor is tart raspberries upfront with toasted, slightly bitter malt. Initial impression is dark chocolate covered raspberries. Tart kick in the tonsils.
By far, this has been my favorite of the Short's Salvacious Planemo sour series and the only one I'd willingly revisit.
