Good Humans was originally created to showcase one of Briess Malting Company’s new malt varieties. Originally planned as a one-off beer, it quickly became a favorite brew. Good Humans is a Double Brown Ale made with Carabrown Malt and dry hopped with Simcoe and Golding hops. The brew has sweet malty esters that are met by huge toasted caramel and toffee flavors. The finish is dry with a bouquet of hops.

I bought a bottle of this off the single shelf at Meijer's. It poured a clear brownish red with no head and no lace. The scent had rich malt and hints of bread loaf. The taste is nicely balanced with sweet malt being slightly offset by bitter hop. The Mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a solid beer.

Pours reddish brown with a medium, creamy, light tan head that fades slowly. Good lacing

Smells roasted and caramel malts. Earthy/piney light dank. Some orange

Tastes earthy and pine with caramel malt. Getting some citrus. Light nutty. Slightly dry finish with a light bitter linger. Lighter needing body. Medium smooth carbonation

12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours auburn with some ruby hues and has solid clarity; big chunky light khaki head that falls leaving great retention and sticky lacing. The aromas have some spicy aromas along with some chocolate and caramel. Malts are there. Subtle hints of citrus. The flavors seem to follow the nose. It has a "woodsy" vibe going on. More chocolate and caramel along with some toffee. Nice hop bite with a solid malt backbone. It finishes slightly spicy. Possibly some rye and black pepper in the mix. There's a mild warmth and alcohol in the finish, but nothing crazy or boozy. Mouthfeel is very nice. It's on the lighter side of full-bodied with moderate to active carbonation. It's very fluffy. Slightly thin but slightly creamy. Smooth stuff.

This is a nice hoppy brown ale. It's also somewhat unique. It's very enjoyable and fun to drink. Well crafted stuff. I like it.

My go to beer. Unfortunately it is seasonal (winter), I would love to be able to enjoy it all year long...... though I recently found a few bottles this summer. Good Humans has a smooth feel with a solid end, yet not over robust for a brown. If you like reds and are looking for a bit more body Good Humans is a good choice.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass
A: Brown with a hint of red and a 1/2-finger head
S: Roasted malts, caramel, and some earth/baking spice
T: Matches the nose. A distinct pepper/backing spice/earthy note up front with roasted malt and a bit of bitterness on the back end
M:Medium-bodied, spicy but disjointed
O: This doesn't know where it's going. It's a bit malty/nutty, fairly spicy/earthy but no coherent notes or direction show across the beer. No single part of it is bad and there are tasty notes throughout but in whole it just doesn't jive

Nutty, toasted malt, fairly fruity amber character.

Flavor is similar, with more fruit dominance than expected, and a dry, toasted finish. Doesn't drink like the high abv.

For me, this was just a really unique, tasty beer... really liked tasting the hops on top of the sweet brown ale flavour.
