Nice all around IPA with grapefruit zest added. Good balance and not too sweet. Compares favorably with Grapefruit Scuplin. My guess is 50% of those drinkers would prefer Hopstache if they did a blind test. So far with the few beers I have tried from Short's I'm pretty impressed and not a homer since I live in Chicago and not MI.

Appearance: A bubble show produces a slightly hazy amber liquid capped by a two fingered head; nice retention and lacing action

Smell: Floral and pithy, with papaya, passion fruit, pineapple and white grapefruit

Taste: A little bready in the malt base, but the hops make a strong statement, bringing the tropical fruit (papaya and passion fruit, primarily) in the first wave and the grapefruit pith in the second; increasingly bitter, after the swallow, with an aspirin flavor in the aftertaste

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A decent IPA that hedges that frontier between the bitter grapefruit flavors that dominated a few years ago with the tropical fruit tones so prevalent today; I enjoy that aspect but don't care for the aspirin in the finish

Thanks, RoguePT, for the opportunity

Excellent head, well supported by tons of carbonation retaining the head well into it. Taste is very grapefruit, bitter not much malt but this beer is exceptional. Sticky lacing covering the entire glass. Highly recommended

L: Drank straight out of the bottle at a beer garden so unable to comment.

S: Grapefruit (in a natural not artificial way)

T: Initially biscuit and floral with a fantastic grapefruit finish, again not artifical, not sweet just great flavor. Moderately bitter.

F: Appropriately carbonated, good mouthfeel.

O: The best grapefruit IPA I've had (also like Sam Adams Rebel Grapefruit IPA a lot but it's sweeter than this one).
