We were already at the door when Daisy opened it at 4:00 PM sharp. We planned to have a couple of beers and move along. We did, 6 hours later...

I started with the wonderfully dry and well hopped Taras Boulba and moved on to a couple of beers that couldn't be had anywhere else. One from t' Smisje even featured this bar on its cartoony label. We moved onto Ichtegems Ouid Bruine, Adelardus Trudoabijier, De Cam Oude Geuze Kriek, Guido, Bolekes of De Konnick, Ave les Bon Voeux and Cuve de Ranke, and that was just to start us out. We would continue the evening tasting wonderful sour beers and all sorts of Flemish oddities that I had not seen before and have not seen since.

Service from both Daisy and the other staff was flawless. They knew each beer on their menu. They were friendly, prompt, and kept the beers coming.

I befriended some young Brits at the next table and they broke out a geography game called Mapominoes. I taught them Euchre and later learned the French version "Quinche" from some other patrons. I put some loud and fat British blowhards in their place, much to the pleasure of the locals present who seemed to have a particular disdain for the drunken Englishmen that frequent Bruges. And we had a fine chat with some Japanese beer connoisseurs.

The Little Bruges Bear was like that. Just being there was akin to attending a planned gathering of the worldwide beer geek society. It was wonderful. With more than 200 exquisite beers to choose from, fair prices, an atmosphere of a quintessential old school Belgian bar, and impeccable service how could it not be.

Before we left the entire family from De Dolle walked in to celebrate their matriarch's birthday. She was turning 91, 92, or 93. I forget exactly. I bought grandma Herteleer her first beer, an Ara Bier of course, and thanked the wonderful family again for the kindness they had shown us the previous evening.

't Brugs Beertje is a must for any true beer enthusiast. One of the best beer bars in the world.

Located on a narrow street of the main shopping street in the city - The Little Bear was my favorite place in Brugge - so sad I only hit it once due to the timing of things, but I loved the vibe and was so happy to meet Daisy who was so friendly, kind and attentive despite the place being pretty busy. The Little Bear is not a big place - basically two rooms with a small bar and small tables. Think lots of wood, a little old and a bit dank! Our party of five took over an entire corner of the backroom. Draft list was solid - nothing crazy, but better than most places in the city. Bottle list was quite good - I enjoyed some De Dolle beers and Daisy was happy to provide my family (non-beer drinkers) with some recommendations that made them all happy. Prices were the best in Brugge in my opinion. I had brought a few fresh pale ales and IPAs over from the States to gift and she kindly returned the favor by gifting me in return with a "little bear" and a pin to bring home. Generally speaking, you're not going to find the crazy draft list you would see in Brussels; however, I loved the vibe (a mix of locals, tourists and enthusiasts) and found 't Brugs Beertje to be in my top five beer bars to date. A must visit!

This place is what grabbing a beer at a Belgium pub is all about to me. Daisy and the staff are all extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The selection is excellent, but the taps are limited (and weren't particularly exciting).

First stop on Brugges 2015, beer selection was great, I just wish they offered a couple of alternative styles to Belgian only offerings. I get that it's a Belgian beer bar, but I might have stayed more than 4 hours if they had a Gose or IPA palette cleanser.

Meet some awesome Britts on holiday, overall nice experience. Worth a visit!

Pretty neat place. It's places like this that make me understand where Belgian-style bars in the US get their ideas. Overall, I thought the vibe was nice, but it was HOT as hell in there, even on a cool April evening, and a lot of it was probably body heat, as at the front bar section you're pretty much elbow to elbow with your neighbors.

I got the best service here out of most or possibly all of the bars I visited in Belgium. I grabbed a bar seat, and got everything I needed within a reasonable time. I don't know, but it just seems to me in general that servers over here in Belgium are mostly honey badgers. But not at this bar.

Nice selection of beers, maybe not super rare whales that you'd think are all over the place here, but good Belgian staples and trappist items. Taplist was mainly pale ales and blondes and so on, so I opted for a fresh 375 of 3F Geuze. Snacky but satisfying food items. I went with the cheese and salami "nibbler," which kept me going fine.

Definitely a good place to visit, but as the saying goes: "if you don't like the heat, stay out of the kitchen." I was dripping with sweat when I walked out of the bar, and that's the only thing that would keep me from going there again.
