On tap at Tony's Darts Away in Burbank, CA.

Pours a slightly murky brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to an oily film. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, brown sugar, sour cherries, unripe bananas, and brandy. Taste is of roasted malt, brown sugar, slightly sour cherries, and brandy flavors. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a noticeable brandy presence, but I am not sure what angle the brewer was going for by adding the sour cherries.

Draft at Beveridge Place Pub is Seattle, WA.

Pours a dark chocolate brown color that's completely opaque with a 1.5 finger light beige head that very slowly settles into a lasting ring. Streaks of lace left behind.

Complex aroma with a strong barrel presence that's countered by dark malt and vinous fruit noes.  Toasted oak, vanilla and brandy followed by chocolate, caramel, date, fig and plum.

Chewy body with a strong barrel presence that slightly dominates the flavor.  Lots of sweet spirit flavor along with some dry, toasted oak and coconut.  As it warms the sweet malt and dark fruit notes appear giving off hints of chocolate, toffee, grape, raisin, plum and fig.  Boozy but not difficult to drink.  Dry finish but there is a decent amount of sweetness to counter the strong barrel and brandy notes.  I wish that the quad elements were a bit stronger but it's still pretty good.

Pours a half finger of light brown head over a dark brown liquid (red edgings). Smells lemony, sweet herbal, prunes, mild chocolate, some belgian yeast edge (clove and nutmeg), and gentle clean alcohol.

Dry with a complex flavor profile. Malt is baker's chocolate with some caramel undertone and biscuity in the finish. Nice complementing blackberry, which I would guess comes from Northern Brewer hops. Cherry, a spritz of lemon, rosemary, white grape, and a dry grassiness. Interesting and complex, but not quite integrated. I wish it had a bit more sweetness Md-light body and little carbonation.

Served in tulip. Poured a very dark brown, perhaps even black, color with a half-inch of tan head that had low retention and no lacing.

The aroma started out with strong amounts of base malts, a big blast of roast notes, a noticeable sweetness and a blast of alcohol. The flavors were pretty much the same, mostly roasted malts and some sweetness. The alcohol was very noticeable all across the tongue, and detracted from the other flavors. I also thought I picked up a bit of peatiness.

The body was good, but had a weird aspect, it was full and tongue coating all across, yet was oddly thin at the finish. The flavors lingered at the back, but yet the beer came up with a clean finish. Drinkability was good, but the alcohol taste took away from the overall enjoyment. This was a very nice beer, and I think you should try it, but it was somewhat confusing. I thought this was either a stout or perhaps a Scotch Ale, the roast and peat are not what I would have looked for in a BSDA.

Consumed at the brewery on nitro.

Pours a nice black ale with a big amount of beige foam. Being nitro, the head stayed throughout the entire session. Impressive. Light lacing.

Geting a lot of sugar whiffs. Brown sugar, maple syrup, brandy barrel, apple, plum

The taste has the nice barrel present. Decent booze present and a nice taste of plums, figs, red grapes, dark malt and smoke.

Mouthfeel is a rather oily and thin.

Overall this is a nice take on the Belgian Dark style. Fruity and boozy but pleasant. Very flavorful and the ABV is definitely present. Though the batch I consumed was 11.5%.
