The beer pours out into a Duvel glass a clear dark amber color with a 1" ivory head that soon recedes to a thin layer of foam. Sipping creates a couple of big arches of foam with lots of scattered patches and legs of lacing, a few of which near the top of the glass become liquid.

The aromas include a nice mix of toffee and bready with no distinguishable hops showing

The flavors pretty much follow the nose with some sweet, almost toffee like bready character from the malt and just a light touch of spicy, herbal bitterness in the finish.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. The finish is medium long and begins as the sweetness of the toffee and bready mix slowly fades and a light touch of spicy, herbal bitterness shows up to join the other flavors as they all fade almost into dryness, but with the sweetness hanging around a bit too long.

Overall this is an enjoyable beer but seems just a bit off the style with the toffee like sweetness towards the end. It is smoothly drinkable and having another would be fine. That said I don't think its going to replace any of my local favorites on the list of beers to have again next year.

Decent Marzen, pours a dark orange/light brown with small head, inoffensive carbonation. Taste is a little sweet but not cloying or anything. This beer is pretty smooth and a tasty easy drinking lager but nothing really out of the ordinary. No noticeable out of line bitterness and the malt presence is appropriate and tasty.

Pints with dinner at the Nantahala Outpost Center with Bro, Sis, Bob and Spanky. Better than average marzen from this NC brewery. Would definitely drink again, especially while in NC.

Pours a gorgeous deep amber, nice fizzy head forms and dissipates.

Nose is light and a bit lacking - malt is all I get.

Flavor is how I love a marzen - deep, little spice, bready, caramel and a great malt profile with really subtle hop profile. Fantastic.

Feel is about average for the style, perhaps tighter and lower carbonation than usual.

Overall, a really great Oktoberfest. My favorite American Marzen this year pretty much tied with the SN offering.

On tap (TCT) at the 2015 Albino Skunk Music Festival.
As might be expected from the"dark beer specialist", this looks darker and has a darker roasted malt flavor than usual for style.
Otherwise, and overall, this is on style. This includes the aroma which features caramel(?) malts and hops in about equal measure.

Pours a clear reddish orange with one finger of off-white colored foam, settles quickly to a thin ring; a few dots down the glass. Smell: bready, cooked apple, mild floral and spicy hopping with notes of baking spices
Taste: upfront quite spicy and a bit grassy; bread, caramel apple, mildly toasty and nutty; peach skin, earthy finish. Slick, somewhat aggressive carbonation.

Their lightest beer in color and alcohol content. A lovely Marzen that's better than Sam Adams Octoberfest. Quite drinkable. Tastes like Fall like 'Summer' beers taste like Summer. Looks like Fall leaves yellow/orange. Buying a lot more than a six pack of this this Fall.
