Appearance: Arrives with a hazy amber color capped by an inch of foam; a few strands of lace linger

Smell: Funky sour elements abound, with a hint of berry and oak

Taste: The funky sour elements take over the tastebuds from the outset; lemony and tart, with the funk building, after the swallow; hints of oak and berry, in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation; puckery

Overall: A pretty darn good geuze from a brewery that is developing a noteworthy sour program focusing on many of the traditional styles

Tart, Funk, Hay, Dry

We always have our reservations when American brewers take on Belgian style beers, even more so when appellation usage is in question. Does Natty Greene’s have the right to use this “lambic” tag, perhaps not. Do they do a great job at emulating this style, perhaps a little green around the edges but this one is dialed in tight. Uniform sourness from start to finish, funk is light but unwavering. Sip after sip this one really grows on us.

@ The Bunker

Hazy pale gold with a ring of head. Funky, dusty aromas of apple, lemon juice, and dough, getting a little dirtier as it warms. Sour lemon flavors with a moderate apple sweetness lingering. Somewhat wooden, tart, super dry, and puckering. Quite sour...lacking the complexity of the best, but a satisfying take on the style all the same.

Aroma of lemon, funk, dustiness. Taste lemon, sourness, mild acidity, barnyard. Excellent Lambic!!
