Very Good
Mt. Mitchell IPAMt. Mitchell IPA
Notes: A hop-forward American IPA brewed with 100% Eureka hops, resulting in a smoothly bitter beer with a nice citrus aroma. Have a pint and experience the bitter climb to a citrus adventure!

12 oz bottle of Mt Mitchell from NC.

Clear amber body with a white head. Good lacing and decent retention.
Hoppy and fruity aroma; surprisingly complex for a single hop IPA.
Flavor: surprisingly complex for a single hop IPA. moderate bitterness for style.
Soft but lively carbonation in a medium body. Dry finish.
Overall: distinct, well crafted SH-IPA.

Good IPA with a solid depth of hoppy flavor in the taste, paired with a respectable level of hop aroma, and both (taste and smell) being of a blend of fruitiness and a touch of dank funkiness. Also, flavorful without being too heavy to enjoy in warmer weather.

12oz into a perfect pint glass... Pours gold with one finger of white fizz... Biscuit malt and light tropical hops / citrus best characterize this beer. Quite drinkable at 7%... Overall, a nice IPA.

Amber tap pour to Pilsner glass has a very sweet tropical fruit aroma and one finger of foam. The flavor is sweet and malty with a resinous hop finish.

A: Pours a clear medium golden honey in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation and faint golden yellow + copper highlights. The beer has a two finger tall foamy beige head that reduces to a large patch of mottled very thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer with a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Slightly heavier than moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of tropical/papaya, tropical/mango, and citrus/grapefruit pith hops with light to moderate aroma of slightly sweet grainy malts.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of grainy malts with a moderate amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of tropical/papaya, tropical/mango, and citrus/grapefruit pith hops which impart a moderate amount of lingering aggressive bitterness.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Hints of dryness in the finish.

O: Very easy to drink and quite enjoyable, a nice surprise for a bottled offering that is easy to find (not a very limited bottle count release at the bunker). Nice hop flavors and aromas. Definitely one that I will grab again.

Appearance: Arrives with a clear copper color capped by several inches of foam; excellent retention and lacing

Smell: Biscuity malt and tropical fruit tones - papaya and lychee

Taste: Biscuity malt, up front, with tropical fruit flavors of papaya and lychee building; slightly pithy in the middle and through the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body and moderate carbonation

Overall: Apparently, this beer uses a new hop (Eureka!) that produces some tropical flavors (I was told to expect mango but didn't get that) and moderate bitterness; very drinkable but not a favorite for me
